Inti Raymi

Posted by sigismund on June 16, 2013, at 8:47:30

I met this man, an American, in a cafe in Cusco where he was leaving some stuff.
'We are trying to promote self respect and self esteem in the indigenous cultures of the world. I made a lot of money in real estate before I woke up and so......We have projects all over the world.'
'You should try to do one in Australia.'
'Oh yeah, I've heard the situation there is very bad.'
'Petrol.'
'Petrol?'
'The kids put petrol in plastic bags and breathe it. It feels to me as if they are trying to make us feel shame, but this being the age of shamelessness......'

Anyway, this is his website.

He might be from Austin, which sounds like a cool place. Inti Raymi is on at the end of the month, the 24th perhaps.

Hi sigi,

One of the directors is from your city in Peru. Well, the head of the organzation has his hands filled, facing the dark forces of industry. Seems full of energy and optimism.

A friend of mine was thinking of relocating to Peru with her 8 year old daughter and study herbs and indigenous ways.

Petrol in bags? In the U.S. some call it huffing. That is any substance in a bag.

Yes, Peruvian herbs, most interesting.

I became aware that in the local market there is a stand selling ayahuasca and San Pedro, but I felt old and just bought maca instead. But it lifts my spirits to be away from sliced white country.

They say the glaciers are shrinking

I think that is in Peru, though I have not seen anything like that. But I have spent time in the ruins around the Sacred Valley.

In Australia the highest mountain is around 6,000ft, and Cusco is at perhaps 11,000ft, and the mountains around are higher.

I went with a friend climbing around the archeological zone....it took hours to get to the top, but it is a thing I have really enjoyed....going for walks and chewing coca with friends.

No double blind studies of chewing coca vs other antidepressants, I'll bet.

You know I think the cocoa leaves sound great. But will I ever get to try them. I'd have to lobby hard to get the family to consider Peru as a vacation destination. Maybe when my son is older. But then, I'll be older :)

The picture of the glacier is disturbing.

My son was served sweetened condensed milk on bread for breakfast at Ha Long Bay in Viet Nam. Then there was the 4 hour bus ride back to Ha Noi. He walked off the bus and politely and immediately vomited. I thought 'There's character for you'. After that the kids said 'No more poor countries'.

Dr Dent in the library with the Methedrine. What is the name of that game?

Cluedo perhaps?

>. One sunny Saturday in 1964, I developed a pharmacologic launchpad consisting of a base of amphetamine (for general arousal), LSD (for hallucinogenic intensity), and a touch of cannabis (for a little added delirium). About twenty minutes after taking this, I faced a white wall and exclaimed, I want to see indigo now now!

Why stop there? A touch of opiate to keep calm?

I was reading about Arguedas again, perhaps a connection with Liberation Theology, or perhaps not, and I came across this which resonated with me and is true from my experience.

>Highland culture takes at face value the pervasive sense of smallness that humans feel in the world. Since humans occupy no privileged place within the cosmos, highland culture sanctions a social order appropriate for humanitys humble estate. At its best, it is cooperative, communitarian and non-acquisitive. Without being individualistic, highland culture assigns great worth to people as the essential elements of community life; in such a situation toleration is almost an absolute. Hence, highland culture is much better able to accommodate deviance and outright madness than is coastal culture.
