Selegiline Alternatives?

Posted by GoodOlJoe on June 3, 2011, at 5:33:37

Hello,

I am a 60 year old male in good phyical health (so far).
I started using Liquid Deprenyl over 10 years ago when the DEDE product was still available. Once that product was taken off the market I switched to Liquid Selegiline or Celepryl. I took these products for the purpose of aleviating low dopamine disorder causing severe mental and physical depression. In the beginning I would take from 10 to 20 drops (mg) per day then as time went on I needed less and less until lately I only use about 5 to 10 mg per month. Now that the stupid US FDA has labeled it a narcotic (not) and took it off the market (if it's available somehow please let me know) I am wondering if any one with experience has tried the hydrocloride tabs in place of the liquid? Does it work or should I find an alternative MAO-B replacement like Mirapex and or Rasagiline?

If I don't find a replacement once I run out of my supply I will be in real trouble so information which may help me with this is very appreciated.

Thank you,
Joe

I googled it and got heaps of results. (Buy liquid deprenyl citrate)

I'm not allowed to post links here

Can you import it into the US?

If you follow it up you'll see only the tablets available, not the liquid. The liquid ads are left over from the past. You can give me any link by simply separating the dot parts with the word dot in place of the . like google dot com.
I'm certain if you look closely you won't find the liquid selegiline, celepryl, deprenyl or any other LDC that you could buy freely just last year.

Thanks, Joe

Well, yeah, perhaps that is right. I know International Antiaging Systems only has the tablets.

Do you know why this is?

The liquid seemed stronger to me. I only took 1 or 2 drops a day. There are people who will argue there is no difference, and people who will say the liquid is smoother.

I'd try rasagaline if it wasn't so expensive.

Yes. The Liquid is clearly more effective because it does not get destroyed by the stomach acids when you swallow the tabs. The liquid enters the bloodstream in the glands of the mouth, under the tongue etc.

Although I have much exprience with the liquid, I have no experience with the tabs and I was hoping someone that did have experience with both could critique it for me.

Thanks for chatting with me about it.

Ok I'll keep that in mind because I'll have to have something when my supply runs out. I'm fine for about a month or 2 but I will not be able to go on indefinitely without the use of a good maob. Thanks again and to anyother helpful posts.

When I have taken the tabs I always let them dissolve under my tongue anyway.

At times I took almost 10mg a day, though never for long.

Mainly I took 2.5mg/d. This is of the tablets.

If I didn't have trouble sleeping I would always take deprenyl. It is probably that lovely word. It sounds so good in an American accent on the Life Extension Foundation's automated phone line.

A particularly good combo for me was deprenyl and rhodiola. Sleep was the only problem with that.

Hey thanks for the post I appreciate it.
I was wondering if I could disolve the tabs under the tongue. So it seemed to work for you fine then? Great. I'll go look up what rhodiola is.

From what I've been reading it appears the rasagiline or Mirapex are good products too.

Thanks again for the help,
Joe

i used sublingual/buccal selegiline tabs.

You should know it is unpleasant/bitter tasting, though not horribly so (better than say, piracetam or most herbal things. not neutral/pleasant like inositol/taurine/theanine etc.)

i took lemon methyl-b12 or tangerine d3/k2 tabs at the same time to cover the taste

I didn't realize they were sublingual, that's great. And I'm sure they can't be that pleasent but to me it's like candy :P

Thanks desolationrower
