Lamictal/Seroquel and heartburn?

Posted by babbgal on September 7, 2004, at 22:13:23

Hi all:

I currently take a regimen of Lamictal and Seroquel for Bipolar Disorder II. My Lamictal (taken at bedtime) was just increased from 200mg to 250mg and my Seroquel (also @ bedtime) has held steady at 800mg.

In the past few weeks, I have had intermittent heartburn for the first time in my life. Does anyone know if the increased Lamictal, or the Lamictal/Seroquel combination, could be responsible for the heartburn? The episodes of heartburn do loosely correspond to my Lamictal dosage change.

Thanks for your help!

I am taking 50mgs of lamictal and have terrible intermittent nausea through out the day no matter when I take it. Coke or any sugary drink helps (dk why) but might not help with hearthburn.

I am having really bad heartburn with Lamictal also. I am really disappointed, because otherwise, it works really well for me! I'm not sure what other meds to try instead. Anyone have any advice?

I am having the same difficult so I was online reading about side effects when I came across your post. I just read that eating yogurt at night helps alot. Haven't tried it yet but it makes sense.

I doubled up on my Aciphex and am taking the new time release brand of Lamictal and I'm not having any more problems with heartburn.

I got a coupon online for the time release brand name Lamictal and my copay is $0 with the coupon.

be careful of PPIs, cause as in my case, i did not fair well on them. some people just dont do well on anti-inflammatory type meds like acid reflux meds, or cholesterol drugs. they gave me insomnia, bounds of energy but terrible insomnia, i almost felt hypomanic at times. but anyways, most people respond well to them, but if you have any CYP3A4 enzyme problems, then these drugs might not work.
