> > > Well, I wrote a couple of weeks ago about my trip to the Dr. and wanted some advice. I only saw a regular Dr. so we didn't make any major changes to my pysch meds. (I will be seeing my pysch Dr on the 1st of Oct) The only thing we did was change my Paxil to name brand. It did make a difference, but I feel it slowly wearing off. Why does this always happen to me? I've tried EVERYTHING out there. I've suffered from depression since I was a child, I'm now a 28 yr old stay at home mom who needs to snap out of it.

Then I was introduced to my first chemical four years ago and I experienced joy, emotions and took an active part in my life. Depression and anxiety are something that I've dealt with since I was a child. Its in my family. I'm tired of standing on the sidelines and watching everyone participate in life with a drive and purpose. I know what I'm capable of. When these chemicals worked with my own chemicals, I was that person. Have u ever been depressed? If so, and if you dont use chemicals, what do you do to help your depression. If you even are depressed?

You wrote,[...in my family...when the chemicals worked...what do you do...?]
There is an important phenomenem called the placebo effect that is something that I would like for you to look up on your own if you are not aware of the updated research concerning such. We could use this in any discussion here. There is also research concerning hereditary aspects of depression that I also would like for you to look up if you are not up to date on the research for such.
Now as to depression, I have a view that could be different from many psychiatrists concerning such. I have depression in relation to BP type which could be in some ways different from the unipolar type. I consider depression a gift, but to explain that could have me need a great amount of space and time here.
Depression in my perspective is death. I see this death having an origin and a way to escape from it. I do experiance depression and I am very vulnerable to having it overtake me and I walk on a very narrow road and do fall by the wayside into the depths of depression, and one could be pushed. But I think that there is a way to overcome this death, and climb up to the road again. This way is in understanding what in one's thinking has the potential to induce depression and what in one's thinking can overcome depression.
This involves the concepts of Judaism as revealed to me. One concept involves the mind. It has been revealed to me that there are two minds, one leading to death, the other leading to life and peace. Which mind that one uses then as it has been revealed to me, could then determine the state of either being in depression (death) or life and peace.
This could mean for one to start over in life with hearing a new song.

I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean here by that. Could you clarify as to what the question marks are refering to and to what post if any?

Mm... well being Jewish I still don't understand the religious comment, it is out of any concept that I know of, but then I'm not terribly religious.

If one wants to think of mental illness as a "gift", go ahead... I could counter that with an equally offensive nature of a certain ex-candidate vice president who thought her mentally challenged baby would be a "gift".... but this isn't the place for religion anyhow.

I certainly don't perceive the pile of scheisse that I deal with daily a "gift"... that one can compare that there are others in life with other physical disabilities or things that affect some part of their faculties, that's a reverse thought and a better way of looking at things but however one wishes....

As for the Integrative medicine comment, well.. I'll get psychobabble-slapped about it, but again, that's for the "alternative" part of the board, I really really don't know why its necessary to look at Candida and suggest dangerous chelation for every new person...

But back to the real point of all of this... for the original poster... when you have said that you have tried "everything"... and I can understand this, I have tried a fairly large list... have you ever had a second psychiatric opinion... which can sometimes turn up other medications that haven't been thought of... not every "old" medication is necessarily a bad one.

I just wanted to be sure that things had been thorough.. and also that polypharmacy hadn't been exhausted (combining various medications for their beneficial aspects... with admittedly problems for greater side effects, but not everything is perfect).

MAOIs are not the end of the line nor the beginning of the line... they are appropriate for some people, they must definitely have benefits that outweigh their risks as life-threatening things can happen on a new regime of a diet that must be followed.

I put their risks above most atypical antipsychotics, yes, I have worries about tardive conditions... but the possibility of a fatality induced from a medicine must be thought against whether the depression itself could be fatal (suicide).

-- tidings.

yxibow,
You wrote,[...I don't understand the religious comment...].
The poster that originated this thread posted that ANY advice was asked for. The generally accepted meaning of {any}, in particular that the word is in caps, could mean that the original poster wants to mean that there are no exclusions to the advice that anyone could want to post here in this thread. The aspects of what I would like to discuss here is concerning the mind in relation to depression which is the topic at hand here. Knowing what I could share with others here about the mind could help those IMO taking chemicals into their system to have an additional understanding that could IMO help them to make a more informed decision concerning the taking of chemicals into their system.
You wrote,[...equally xxxxxx...] I am unsure what you are wanting to mean by that.
You wrote,[..her..baby...] I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean by posting such here, if there is something that you want others are to get from what you posted about the candidates child.
You wrote,[...The Integrative medicine comment..] I am unsure as to what comment you are wanting to mean here.

Lou, I'm sure you mean well. But if I ever post a question I would like to request that you do not offer advice. I find it very rude and offensive. I have already done the religion & natural stuff. I'm glad it works for you, but I do not want to be preached at.

Thanks.

alchemy,

I am unsure as to what you are asking me to do here. If you could post answers to the following, then I could have the opportunity to respond accordingly.
A. Does this request of yours to me go for all and any questions that you post?
B. In the not offering of advice that you request of me here, is what you want me to not post any advice at all to the members or just to you or something else?
C. Could others offer advice from a question that you post here?
D. If I deny your request to me here, is there something I need to fear from you as a result of my posting advice?
E. redacted by respondent
F. In that you find {it} xxxx and xxxxxxx, is the {it} advice that I could post to a question by you here?
G. If so, how could you determine ahead of time here that what I could post as advice could be determined by you to be xxxx and xxxxxxx?

To the administration,
I do not know how to relocate a post to another board here, or if I have the authority to do so. If this post and the one that I have replied to are of the nature as to qualify as to be shifted to another forum here, please do so.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down. Even if you feel offended.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're bad people, and I'm sorry if this hurts you. Lou, I'm also sorry if you felt hurt.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express oneself, including a link to nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob
