What kind of stroke are you concerned about - clotting or blood vessel rupture?

Well the kind that can be a result of metabolic sydrome.

I think that the pomegranate juice helps my insulin resistance alongside Metformin. I dont crave calories as much anymore since i drink the pomegranate juice.

So i am looking for things that reduce arteriosclerosis (plaque) and i want to improve my insulin resistance.

Aspirin will help prevent clotting, and therefore prevent ischemic attacks.

If hemorrhagic events are a concern, aspirin will do more harm than good.

Statin drugs: Crestor (rosuvastatin) is able to prevent and even reverse atherosclerosis. The same has been claimed for Lipitor (atorvastatin).

But statins have bad side effects including muscle damage and diabetes!

What are the rates of incidence of these effects?

Scott's advice for the prevention of ischemic stroke is consistent with available evidence....which is the same as saying is the best advice we've got.

Medicine is not capable of predicting what is best for you, as an individual. It can, however, provide you with the most likely positive treatments. Scott has provided you with the best guidance we have.

For some reason, statin drugs have been under attack for what are really rare side effects. They have been the subject of negative propaganda.

If I understand the thread correctly, what you really should be treating is Type II diabetes? That is a direct threat to your health, that is best managed behaviourally.

I just wonder what will happen if my liver doesnt like the statins considering all the drugs i am currently on.

Yes metabolic syndrome is considered pre-diabetic by some.

I think that increased insuline resistance caused by the AAPs is the culprit. Thats leads me to eating more which leads to pre-obesity and metabolic syndrome.

I read (skimmed) an article today...they think maybe some of the metabolic stuff from the AAP drugs is due to oxidative stress or something. weird, huh? The AP drugs cause more motor side effects, more frequently (Thorazine Shuffle, anyone?) and dysphoria, but the newer drugs are weight gainers like whoa.

Anyway...I also read that alpha lipoic acid has been used to block weight gain from zyprexa, with some good results. I wanna say 1,200mgs/day. I don't know if it would reverse it....
