Bio Tuner 7, Alpha Stim Electro Cranial Stim.

Posted by mogger on October 4, 2011, at 20:55:05

Hello there,

Has anyone tried this route in trying to help relieve depression and anxiety and what has been your experience? I am very interested in perhaps trying one out but don't know if it will mix with my medication or if they are placebo. Many thanks,

mogger

hi mogger-

i tried this device. unfortunately it did nothing for my depression or anxiety.

if you do decide to go for it i suggest you carefully read the return policy from whomever you are purchasing from. some of the sellers are pure scam artist and will charge a hefty 'restocking' fee if you return the device.

by the way, ucla is currently doing a clinical study with a similar, but much stronger device that is getting some good early reviews. as usual, who knows what the reality of that device will be if/when it's released.

hope you find some peace soon.

John,

Had a phone conversation done with a woman at the office who might bring me in for a consultation depending on whether the psychiatrist thinks I am a fit. Haven't heard back from the yet. Definitely give them a call as she was very interested.

ha! just spoke with the same gal. waiting to hear back from her. she said either today or tomorrow.

hope we both get in!

sounds like they will get you going pretty quick IF you meet what they want. she mentioned a 4 hour 'pre-screening' to see if they'll let you in on the study.

good luck joseph.

She finally got back to me today and unfortunately I have a dual diagnosis of OCD so they won't accept me. They are definitely motivated bro so if you have depression and meds are not working to their potential you are in. Sounds like a great study. Keep my updated!

joseph-

looks like i got invited down to ucla for the interview process. i meet with a 'team' of researchers and go thru an interview, psych history, testing, and even a eeg of my brain. she said it takes about 4 hours.

it will be either wed, thur, or fri of next week. i'll keep you posted.

if i get in on the study i think i might start a thread here on babble to let others know of my experience.

i hope i get in!

have a great weekend. at least it'll be a little cooler for us, which i prefer in my depressed state. ;)

John i am fired up for you man. Please keep me posted and that would be great to start a thread/blog about it. The nerve it stimulates sounds very promising for neurotransmitter production and regulation. I wish you all the best, hang in there this weekend,

John,

Good luck man! I am so excited for you. I forwarded the study onto my psychiatrist (one of the heads of UCLA) and he said it sounds very promising indeed (he has no affiliation with the study). Keep me posted, I am rooting for you! I am not a fan of LA to be honest! :)

hey joseph-

thanks for remembering me. i appreciate the follow-up. hope you are well.

well, i've been using the device for a week now. no real changes in my depression at this point unfortunately.

it is a 12 week study, so i need to be patient obviously. also, at week 6 they may change the settings if i am not responding by that time.

thanks again for the shout-out.

john

ps i'm curious; what are your ocd symptoms? no problem if you don't want to answer. i'm curious because i wonder if i have a bit of that. well, i know i do. i'm just wondering at what level it becomes a problem.
