nonpharmaceutical stimulants?

Posted by psychobot5000 on May 18, 2011, at 23:16:38

Hi all,

What nonpharmaceutical stimulants are most effective at giving energy and maintaining wakefullness? I'm familiar with eleuthero ("siberian ginseng"), which works fairly well, but I'd be very interested to know what else is out there, besides caffeine. Particularly, it would be good if there were some things that worked well in the short term, i.e. got in and out of your system quickly.

I suppose I'd be interested in knowing about drugs, too, so long as they're not the usual suspects--you know, modafanil, amphetamine, ritalin, etc.

Constantly tired,
Psychbot

Just about everything I know of is long term.

There is PEA. That is really short term, but it is not much use to me.

PEA is a dopamine precurer? I was thinking it was a GABA precurser. If I want to increase dopamine To help me with ADHD is PEA what I should be considering? I was considering tyrosine for dopamine. I'm hoping after I restart wellbutrin it will again work, but maybe I should work on dopamine naturaly too.

I think PEA is something different. Both PEA and dopamine are degraded by MAO-B.

These give the feeling of increased dopamine. Tyrosine and DLPA, of course. Also
mucana pruriens
deprenyl/selegeline
withania
Hydergine
Epimedium

there would be lots more too.
