Start my new job tomorrow...can I get a hell-yeah?

Posted by jay2112 on September 1, 2022, at 21:18:07

Oh joy.....nervous as hell, and bringing all my supply of back-up emerg meds. Helping people...mental health/addictions/homeless, try to find new life. That's the reason I am doing this. Homeless people esp are treated like sh*t today. Everybody...EVERYBODY...deserves a home, no exceptions!!!! F*ck the tent cities...build the god damn homes!! NOW!....

Ok....there....

Jay

p.s. I am agnostic, but prayers please.....maybe?

Sounds good. Wishing you the best in the transition. I'm sure with your background you'll do a thorough and compassionate job.

Ok...I have to add this little story to my experience at my new work. When I arrived this morning, there were us outreach workers, and a very, very nice, kinda shy fella who said he was 'just' a cleaner. Well, I could tell he was nervous like me, and the other staff kinda ignored him (a bit). He was a heck of a lot more than 'just' a cleaner...he cleaned up and made nice the office we have to inhabit...cleaning up our, my, crap! And he worked his *ss off!!

So, I took it upon myself to chat it up with him, joke around a bit, sat with him at lunch, as I just had that sense that he had, like me, social awkwardness possibly from (like me) some mental health issues. And, he was also the kindest, nicest fellow. So....he helped me...and I hope, maybe I helped him a bit. I look forward to working with him again.

We all have to look out for each other. That, really, is the point!

I have never really lived up to my capacity in terms of work (because of mental health issues). Many times people look down on me because of my position. I find that most of my friends are people living in abject poverty (even though I am not). I find such people are much less shallow and more real than other people.

I think agnosticism often emerges in a contemplative and seeking mind. It shows a tolerance for uncertainty and an openness to different belief systems.

p.s. I'll pray for you anyway...

Hi Everyone:

Thank you all so kindly for any prayers, blessings...and just being the kind, awesome people you are!

So, it was a little awkward working with new people, and getting to know many of the clients. But, I was told I am "pretty good"...don't know about the "pretty" part..lol. So, for the first time in a long time, I treated myself to some nice Greek, as well as Korean BBQ I have been craving!
My new co-workers are super nice. and have been very supportive.

Now, I want to go from casual to f/t work already, but I have a feeling my time will come. The paycheck on top of my disability money is oh...soooo nice too! I have been living in poverty for the past 4 years on just disability, so as I said, I am treating myself to some good food...rather than microwave dinners..lol. I get my first BIG paycheck this Friday coming up, so I can actually get a decent new bed, then a nice SMART tv...and eventually some wheels!

I have found that I also do much better on a new Effexor dose of 37.5mg's, plus my mood stabilizers, propranolol and clonazepam.

But thank you folks....you all rock, as usual! :)

Oh, and the reason I couldn't respond earlier was because my computer was in the shop. Finally got it back today!

Peace,
Jay
