But for daytime anxiety? If you can use other means of getting to sleep? I am anxious to use them for both because they create tolerance. I do not wish to be unnecessarily dependent on them either.
There isn't a whole lot of anxiety when I am asleep.

an occasional ativan for agitation or restoril for sleep is not ideal, but...effective, usually. and yet...
longer term use creates problems for a lot of people. so, there's that. :-(
never did well with z-hypnotics, personally. extra ativan or klonopin, yes. restoril, yes. but not so much ambien or sonata.

Unlike benzodiazepines, which bind to all GABA-A receptors, the Z- drugs are very selective for the α1-GABA-A receptor subtype. This receptor is most responsible for the hypnotic (sleep-inducing) properties of both the non-selective benzodiazepines and the selective Z- drugs. I took zolpidem (Ambien) for over a year. I was able to stop taking it abruptly without suffering the withdrawal syndrome associated with benzodiazepine discontinuation. The only discontinuation phenomenon I experienced was insomnia, but not total insomnia. I was able to sleep, but my sleep was very broken and light for a few days.

Cool, I am worries about the "sleepwalking" side effect though. Prove to a court that you were not really awake. I am having success with Pipamperone, a sedating low potency typical neuroleptic at 40mg. Prothipendyl didn't really work and it made me OCDish. Like I would check windows 5-6 times. It wasn't fun.

i was on ambien for about a year, it's good for sleep, but ambien is known for causing strage behavior, driving to store and not recalling any of it at night. It defeintly is a red flat, don't take it during the day, it causes behavior alteration. And some of the non-benzo drugs, cause behavior alteration - like odd things that benzos don't do. Ambien helped me sleep, i rerember taking it and noticed the sleep inducing period, but don't take ambien during the day. It alters your behavior
