Ritalin at bedtime for sleep

This sounds bizzare, but has anyone ever heard of dosing ritalin right at bedtime to improve sleep?

I knew of a dude thru the internet...

prescribed long term benzodiazepines in some eu country where that's now very not OK. new doctor recommended Ritalin to fix sleep issues and somehow help anxiety, I think (?).

other than that, no. the idea strikes me as counter intuitive and bizarre, honestly.

I've never taken it specifically to go to sleep, but often it does make me tired and I usually take my daily dose up through 2hrs before bedtime (takes ~45min-60min to kick in for me).

I don't feel it as much as I used to anymore though. I kinda have a feeling Lamictal blunts it a bit. Nontheless, I'm the same way w/ coffee in that it often can make me tired, and I can drink it right until I'm going to bed.

No, but I've seen someone claim that sleep on Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) is of superior quality.

For me methylphenidate (Concerta) did work for sleep if I took it at such a time that the effect was wearing off at around bedtime.

Have you investigated the use of amphetamine for sleep? I don't know anything about it. It's just that I feel that amphetamine is smoother than methylphenidate.

I find that amphetamine-like stimulants can be calming, whereas methylphenidate (cocaine-like) is always stimulating.

My first dose of phenylethylamine (PEA) during selegiline treatment was amazing. It squelched the "silent buzz" in my mind, allowing me to focus all of my attention outwards, in turn allowing me to remember what I saw and heard. If I hadn't been watching the TV news, I might have fallen asleep. If it can enhance experience of wakefulness, why not sleep as well?

The PEA effect described above was short-lived. With further use, PEA took on purely stimulating effects. I'm sure this might happen with amphetamines too, but perhaps not as soon as with PEA, due to the very short half-life of the latter.

I took some ritalin last night before bedtime (just 5mg). While it did result in some delay in falling asleep, it wasn't as bad as I'd expect. Actually, it was nice to be able to lie there and not feel the horrible sinking feeling I've been getting before falling asleep lately.

Yes, similar, but I used to take Vyvanse (amphetamine) at bed time with Latuda, to reduce inner restlessness. First time I did it, had some weird effects the next day. But after, no big deal.

Yeah I get that with amphetamine. And I wake up super happy..lol. Too much sleep is associated with suppressed dopamine, which they say is why you wake up feeling like sh*t if you sleep too much.

Have you gotten your testosterone levels checked?

No. I should probably get it checked.
