It seems that this forum decides about the posters medications more so than their doctor. Doesnt that anger your doctors?

Kinda....my psychiatrist say's stuff like "..I don't do this with ANY of my other patients.." and "..you should be a pharmacist.." lol. I usually (well, always..lol) dictate to him what drugs and what dose I want. Really, that's about it.

I've been to doctors who didn't like it when I dictated to them what drugs I wanted. I think they were insecure, and wanted their patients to see them as all-knowing. I've also been to doctors who welcomed my suggestions.

I got one who really hates my guts now. It is very disrespectful. Looking for someone else.

i think it interfere's with their own risk's of using the suggestion, but i've had previous doctors that prescribed for suggestions, or listened. But suggestions i think are telling your doctor what to do, and that could make them angered with you, or the other doctors. It's making them forced, or feeling told to do something. I've requested medications before because i knew that the medication worked. My doctor increased my Prozac to 80mg from a request I asked her. She didnt want to do 80mg, because it's considered a very high dose. It worked, but she listened to my request. But i think when the doctor is being told what to do, that can be angering, and irritting. I've requested medication because i do it because it would help, not drug seeking. I know there' people that are drug seeking, and I know about that. So, i only request medication that i know would help. Not for the actual feeling of liking. I was taken off nuvigil, and i just need to be put back on it. I don't know what my doctor would say, because nuvigil help me with alertness and morning depression. Don't tell your doctor what to do, that makes them angered. But yeah just ask, and tell why your asking

I don't mean to sound so smug as I did in my above post. I always present things such as "..can we up drug X and lower drug Y.."..etc. He is the gatekeeper, really.

Well this self treatment tendency enrages many of the doctors I see. Speaking for myself, I have done pretty well with improving just about everything in my life besides tweaking meds.
It seems my problem wasn't that I was on the wrong meds. It was that everything else sucked.
