Phillipa, I am sorry...

Posted by Jay2112 on December 21, 2021, at 13:00:39

Phillipa, I am sorry if I seemed to make light of your concerns in the above post on vaccines. I know people are scared how to proceed, and especially with those of us who are a bit older. Like Linkadge said, we should just do our best to get vaccinated if we are lucky to live in a region where we can do so. If we don't, we not only put our own lives at risk, we put OTHERS at risk, and that is not fair.

Just IMHO..etc.

Sincerely,
Jay

Jay no need to apologize. I have to go back and read what you wrote that needed an apology. Phillipa

Hi, Phillipa.

I don't know where the post appears that Jay is referring to.

Omicron is 5 times more transmissible than delta or any other strain we know of to date. There is some speculation that Omicron is less virulent, though. I think we are still awaiting empirical data from South Africa. In the meantime, Omicron has shown itself to be less liable to damage the lungs.

Moderna reported that being innoculated with a booster - 50% of each of the original two doses - protects against Omicron. The booster results in a *37-fold* increase in antibodies. Perhaps having a booster from Pfizer will produce similar results. Review what you can find about the side effects and risks of these two mRNA vaccines compared to the J&J DNA vaccine. Thrombosis has been reported only with the J&J vaccine. The vaccine is designed to use a single DNA sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) viral DNA as its source. Thromobosis (blood clots) represents a risk at a rate of 1 per 100,000 of those vaccinated.

I chose Moderna for myself.

Scott speculating that the post above when I referenced that I had luvox Jay thought possibly that I could be ignoring vaccines? That is my guess. Perhaps he will post again.

Now even thought I had the J&J how much protection will the moderna give me booster dose? I have searched repeatedly and all I can find is that don't get the J&J? Thanks. Phillipa

Good to know. You know your medicines. 37 fold increase? How can that be? Doesn't it mean that there is almost absolutely zero protection before the booster?

Hi, Lamdage.

> > I chose Moderna for myself.

> Good to know. You know your medicines. 37 fold increase?

* Other sources report a 10 fold increase in antibodies with a booster rather than a 37 fold increase.

> How can that be? Doesn't it mean that there is almost absolutely zero protection before the booster?

.

1. A Logical Possibility:

What if the protection of the booster is 37 times higher than what is necessary to protect one from getting COVID-19? In other words, is the booster needed at all?

2. Empirical Proof:

Statistically, people who were given a booster vaccination of the mRNA vaccines are much less likely to get COVID-19 than those who did not.

.

The effectiveness - the number of antibodies provoked by the vaccines - wanes over time. We have known that for well over a year. Not only that, but having survived COVID-19 does not yield permanent immunity. The number of antibodies of survivors wanes quickly as well. Many of these people who have not been vaccinated have contracted COVID-19 twice. A booster shot definitely provides a level of protection against Omicron that the first two vaccinations do not.

.

There are several considerations:

1. The BioNTech vaccine uses mRNA (like Moderna and Pfizer).

2. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine uses DNA (like J&J)

3. The Pfizer mRNA booster works very well. It has not been approved by the FDA yet.

4. J&J requires TWO initial vaccinations to produce immunity comparable to the two initial vaccinations using Pfizer or Moderna.

5. J&J has petitioned the FDA to approve their vaccine as a booster.

* There may be compelling evidence to use the J&J vaccine as a booster if you received it previously. However, I haven't looked into it. It is worth researching this before making a decision as to which one to choose as a booster.

So, J&J and Pfizer and Moderna all require two initial vaccinations? So what is the difference then?

J&J was one shot. With a viral vector. Now months later they announced that a second shot had been needed two months after the first one that was over 6 months ago. The moderna and Pfizer were always 2 dosed. And now the moderna and the Pfizer are the only boosters J&J produces blood clots and thrombocytopenia. Phillipa

Apparently, efficacy.

However, I don't know the final result when J&J is given three times total (2 + Booster).

> J&J produces blood clots and thrombocytopenia. Phillipa

From what I read yesterday, thromboses occur at a rate of 1 in 100,000.

What that means is that in a crowd of 100,000 people filling the seats in the Rose Bowl football stadium, one person will have this side effect happen to them.

You will have to judge for yourself whether that rate is too high to take the risk of continuing to use the J&J vaccine. Perhaps waiting a month to see if using Moderna or Pfizer as a booster enhance immunity in people who used J&J previously.

Vaccine-inducted thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) has also been referred to as vaccine-induced prothrombotic immune thrombocytopenia (VIPIT) or thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). This condition is similar to heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) but is associated with prior administration of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen or AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines without prior exposure to heparin. To date (June 8, 2021), this condition has not been reported in patients who have received the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.

https://www.acc.org/latest-in-cardiology/articles/2021/04/01/01/42/vaccine-induced-thrombotic-thrombocytopenia-vitt-and-covid-19-vaccines

A national multicentre retrospective study conducted in China revealed that the incidence of thrombocytopenia (< 150 * 109/L) on admission in COVID-19 was 36.2% [3], which is similar to that in SARS (4045%%) and MERS (36%) [4]. It has been widely accepted that thrombocytopenia is indicative of disease severity, and a progressive decline of platelet counts was significantly associated with increased mortality.

I honestly just mean't I am sorry. I try to value being that I am humble and meek. When I get manic, I lose those things, and it is the most awful feeling in the world.

I didn't post anything, outside of my snide remarks, that I don't think wasn't correct. The information was from the New Yorker, (in my post to "all"). It pointed to projected models and trends in health demographics, which is my only bit of formal knowledge of study in all of this.

Anyhow, I really get tired of people fighting...it doesn't have to be this way. One of my client's lost her life to Fentanyl last night. So, for a guy who is not really religious, I am going to light a candle in church for her tonight.
