Hi all,
I came across this (short) article:
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-58719089It's about treating intractable depression with a "smart" brain implant that delivers electrical stimulation only as needed (which it "figures out"). It is tailored to the individual. As always, more research is needed.

I've been reading about DBS for years, and haven't been too impressed with its efficacy as a treatment for depression. So it's good to know that they're figuring out how to make it much better.

You've probably seen the demonstrations with Parkinson's patients. Wish it had been around for a family member. Just as I wish a messenger from the future, (who isn't the Terminator), would show us how depression might be better treated.
But imagine, a vaccine for malaria! Fantastic news.
