My friend is ready to start taking Ingrezza (valbenazine) for the treatment of mild tardive dyskinisia that is affecting her tongue.
She asked me to post a question here. Does anyone have experience with Ingrezza?
Robert Post, MD told her that he has seen it work on some people. He didn't sound very excited about it, though.
There aren't very many people offering personal experiences with Ingrezza that I could find on Google. Those that I did find reported that Ingrezza produced drooling. When looking over the side effects, many of them seemed very similar to neuroleptic EPS. What's that all about?
Thanks.

>Well, it seems intuitive that two classes of drugs which produce the same effect through different mechanisms of action would also share many adverse effects.
As you know, neuroleptics block dopamine receptors, and valbenazine depletes neuronal stores of dopamine.
Hence parkinsonian-like symptoms.

it sounds an awful lot like reserpine and the old school rauwolfia alkaloids, just...extremely expensive.

>Right, that is my impression too.
Lobeline and tetrabenazine are others like it.
