Sleep Apnea

Posted by Lamdage22 on July 12, 2020, at 11:44:49

I suspect I have it. Last two weeks have been a nighmare. Sleeping 16 hours a day and still not feeling rested! Does anyone have it? Maybe without knowing? It can can cause symptoms that look like mental illness.

I close off my airway with my soft palate when I'm on my back, sometimes.

I wonder about sleeping on a massage therapy / chiropractic table with the hole for the face so you can breathe with your spine in alignment.

I've started doing a core activating / strengthening exercise program and my spine is starting to adjust.

I'll be interested to see how my cervical region ends up adjusting. Whether I do end up sleeping on my back with no pillow, or what.

Over-sleeping can put your whole system into hibernation mode.

But then without a reason...

I have a friend who was depressed for years, had tried a couple antidepressants, without success, and finally, at his wife's insistence, went to a sleep lab, where he was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. He started using a CPAP, and his depression disappeared overnight.

Spending the night in a sleep lab would let you know whether or not you have sleep apnea. A lot of people don't like using a CPAP every night. The Pillar Procedure might help them.

Yeah not all depressed patients need antidepressants. They make it look like that but many just don't.

I will see my primary care physician on Wednesday. From what I can gather it is very well possible that Sleep Apnea is causing these issues I have. I have had them for two weeks. It could be therapy that I have just started, but the conversations are not uncomfortable for me at all, so I think it must be something physical, not emotional.

Another way of treating sleep apnea is by wearing an oral appliance at night.

http://prosomnusdentists.com/

If you have any jaw pain, or if your jaw ever clicks or pops while you're chewing, you could have temporomandibular disorder (TMD). People who have sleep apnea frequently also have TMD. This can also be treated by wearing an oral appliance.

Thanks, Hugh. I have a referral to a TNO doctor. However the one I usually go to is on vacation. Need to find somebody else. Also, I had a urine Aldosterone test and a blood test and both indicated extremely low Aldosterone. These are the two possible causes that I am looking into.

my first thoght was the AP. how long have you been on Seroquel 700? I have never agreed to take any AP's because of the feared side effects. What are your symptoms for which Seroquel is prescibed?
thanks. I think you have your answer.

Seroquel is prescribed for paranoid thoughts and ideas of reference. Been on it for 7 years. I also take Zyprexa.

I saw the ENT doctor. He thinks my tiredness is indeed caused by breathing problems during sleep. The nasal septum isn't straight, nasal concha (nasal turbinata) are way too large and the palate is flaccid, even when awake. I am scheduled for 6th of August to take the measuring device home. Mind you, I came up with this idea. I mean, eventually, the doctors would have but I have definitely speeded this process up.

I wish I could get the measuring device earlier. My progress at university suffers.

Did your condition worsen as of late?

Try dancing, as vigorously you can, and with music you enjoy. Getting exhausted can take your worries away from other things. That said, I've only done this a few times.

Well, fatigue turned into depressed mood. I haven't felt like this in years. I would already be happy if I could mow the lawn. A doctor wanted to call me on friday but I guess he couldn't make it. I hope I can see him on monday.

I have a resting pulse of 110. So if I dance, it might be my last one

Something changed metabolically. I eat mostly complete crap. Blood pressure and pulse is often much higher than usual.

That's even higher than mine. Have you tried beta-blockers (eg. bisoprolol) or guanfacine (an alpha2-agonist)?

Nope. I want to find the root cause and fix it. It really feels like it is something fixable. I have turned off the wireless lan yesterday and I feel somewhat better. I switched out the router two months ago. The new one is certainly stronger.

You know, it (I) was working before. Then it crept in that I took naps during the day etc. Something has changed and I think I can change it back!

It is not sleep apnea. I have the new symptoms: Irritability, Weight gain, Carb craving. Unusually High blood pressure and pulse. Feel like crap after sleeping. General unwell feeling. Depressed mood. Extreme fatigue.

Rather than getting worse, usually the side effects diminish over time with continued usage.

Yes but not if the blood levels increase due to a change in cytochrome P450

Have you done something (maybe eating something new or starting to smoke) that might alter the CYP450?

Not recently. Im thinking of a tardive inhibition of CYP by something. Or maybe my body just changed. Maybe I will let them control blood levels of my meds and levels of the most important enzymes? I just wonder why this is happening to me!!!
