An interesting read discussing the molecular actions of fish oil in a TRD model. I personally benefit from omega-3.

i rerember taking fish oil, omega 3, while on Dexedrine, it blunted its effect, even though its good for cognitive functions, it blunted the effect of d-amphetamine. If felt like a mood stabilizer, less dopamine release

From what I understand, a major difference between Eienstein's brain and my brain is that Einstein's brain had a huge population of glial cells. Glial cells can operate as modulatory agents to influence neural excitability. They are not just sources of nutritional support and manufacturers of myelin.

A few months ago, I started taking a derivative of fish oil called specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs). I like it more than any other fish oil I've tried.

This is the kind I take:

Yeah, from what I understand the glial cells can modulate glutamate and gaba release. I think I remember reading that the glial cells were important in the antidepressant effect of sleep deprivation.

I personally find that DHA works a bit better than EPA. When I take DHA, I feel I see more of the 'whole picture' if that makes any sense.

I take a high dose. I'm not sure if it helps. I have difficulty to discern between a real effect and placebo. I am doing really well since getting on a bunch of supplements and 150g of Blueberries a day. Like really really well. It has enabled me to leave the daycare facility where everyone was wasting time. Not wasting time anymore.

I must add that my diet is not anywhere near ideal though. But I can imagine that I am not alone with that here.

Couldn't be any worse than my diet!
Do you think our bad diets play a major role in our diseases, or just a slight part?

French Fries grease the brain for better functioning!

Well, my supplements work just like a really good antidepressants, and they don't poop out. It helps more than slightly. Maybe the disease was first and then the bad diet, but you will certainly feel better if your diet is good. It is a mistake to focus solely on medication.

But maybe for other people, the bad diet was first.
