Hey Everyone,

I read this a while ago. Any one read this before? Appear Dr. Phelps states for only some patients, Cannabas is better than medications for bipolar spectrum patients?

Love to know if this would be helpful for me. I have a dear friend who failed many medication who uses CBD.

Thanks everyone!

I have noticed that my moods are much more stable since starting cannabis. I use it once in the evening. I've got both oils and dry herb. I purchase 2 products, one high in THC and one in CBD. They have different but complimentary effects. I end up combining them roughly CBD:THC = 1:1 or 2:1.

Without the THC, I don't get as much brain 'reset'. The THC is also what seems to lower my obsessiveness / rumination.

Overall, the biggest improvement is in things like sleep, appetite, anhedonia and brain overactivity. I would agree with the notion of it being a mood stabilizer. It really helps me 'let go' in the evenings (I have a problem with 'sundowning' - or becoming more active towards bedtime).

The is evidence of excessive inflammation the brains of bipolars. Many mood stabilizers have anti-inflammatory effects. Cannabanoids are particularly effective at lowering brain inflammation, and in many studies, they exhibit neuroprotective effects.

I still find that I need the low dose of lithium. Suprisingly, it seems to work a lot better, and I have fewer side effects when I'm using cannabis.
