Nardil advise Jedi

Posted by PCB on August 20, 2019, at 8:55:10

Hey Jedi,

I have been reading your nardil posts for over 15 years. I have been on and off Nardil for about 20 years and have failed about 30 medications. I am getting some great ideas from all the people here on babble about alternatives to Nardil.. I wonder if we could come up with some thoughts together?

So this can really happen? People, who try thousands of meds finally get full relief? I am skeptical. Of course, remission could be right around the corner if I tried additional meds, but so could suicide, psychosis and worsening of symptoms. To me, Nardil was a real shitshow. The first antidepressant I tried. Psychosis, CRAZINESS and almost suicide.

Hey,

It's a bit of malpractice (IMHO) to use an MAOI as a first antidepressant. They do carry a higher risk of mania / psychosis induction (probably owing to their effects on dopamine and sleep). That's not to say that they're not miracle drugs for some individuals.

Yeah well, I didn't want to take anything else. It's not the doctor's fault.

Sorry if I implied Nardil has given me full relief. I would say all of my medication trials except Nardil made me between 30% worse to 30% improved. Nardil makes me about 70% improved when I compare myself to normal euthymic person. I have given up on normalcy.

I suggest you switch to parnate.... only takes 3 weeks to work, and it has changed my life. Like nardil, but for me, much easier to take, fewer side effect. The only real side effect is the insomnia, but you can take a sleeping med or low dose anti psychotic for that.

Hey rose45,

Thanks for the post. It make sense that parnate would work for me with Nardil doing so well. Unfortunately parnate worsened my panic so I could barely leave my house. And I my depression did not improve.

It is a great medication. So glad it changed your life. You deserve it.

Thanks again!

interesting, pcb..... I have become such a fan of maois that I kind of naturally assume they will work for everyone... thank yo for reminding me that we are all different, and we all react to drugs in our own individual ways.

We can just share our experience, and hope that it will help someone. Good luck with nardil or whichever med eventually works for you.,,,,
