less Abilify, possibly Vraylar

Posted by Christ_empowered on August 13, 2019, at 19:33:48

saw the psych today. down 15 Abilify, from 20, because the 20 Prozac=higher blood levels Abilify, and I'm having some 'side effects.'

next time, she wants to try to switch over to Vraylar. im kinda scared, honestly. it can raise prolactin! it doesn't do the D2 stimulation thing as strongly as Abilify (this according my friendly psych). "good for agitation, those prone to mania."

mania?! ive been sleeping fairly well, my mood is brighter now, thanks to good ole Prozac...

ugh. --i don't get it--

my concern is that i'll get some intense akathisia, like i did from zyprexa and haldol. or dysphoria. i asked about dysphoria, and she's all 'oh, no...not a problem...it acts on other receptors to help depression...,' and im thinking...

dont i need some dopamine? why are they trying to steal my dopamine? what has my dopamine ever done to them?

but, yeah. thought id post.

what do y'all make of this?

Oh yeah. She seems sure of herself. Maybe.

I would be concerned, too. I don't trust "me too drugs".

Because of similarity to old drugs.

my problems are...

its very new, and i don't want to be a guinea pig, and it seems to be more EPS-inducing than Abilify...

and the relative lack of EPS (for me) is why I've stuck with Abilify.

im also concerned about dysphoria, which is something 'experts' generally don't care about, because (wait for it, wait for it) they don't take the pills they prescribe.

to be fair, I think there's more to drug-induced dysphoria than D2 binding. seroquel made me horribly dysphoric, zyprexa didn't until I got up to the dose that induced akathisia, and Haldol...was just a little taste of hell, basically.

but it is a concern. i also don't like the switch from what the psych described as a 'somewhat milder' neuroleptic to the one she thinks is amazing for mania, agitation, etc. "chemical strait jacket," anyone. did I somehow piss her off?

oh well. for now, it is still Abilify.
