Lyrica makes me feel high

Posted by meltingpot on August 2, 2018, at 5:28:37

When I take 150mg of Lyrica it makes me feel high the next morning. My mood feels bright, I don't feel tired, my head doesn't feel under any pressure, I feel like chatting to people. It's strange. Is this normal or is this something like a heroin induced high?

I'm not sure what normal is anymore.

Denise

hi. gabapentin kinda did that to me, too, but not as pronounced. plus, neurontin doesn't last as long, so i could usually sleep it off.

where i live (US), the shrinks are still pretty big on the benzodiazepines, not so much lyrica. gabapentin was popular, now it turns out people are mixing it with pills and street drugs, so...i think its becoming less popular. right now, where i live, lyrica is more of a pain management drug, used with other stuff.

anyway...try not to worry, i guess. i think lyrica is supposed to be less problematic than benzodiazepines, so that's always a good thing. obviously, try not to drive if you feel incapacitated, and talk to the shrink about something else if it bothers you or interferes with your daily functioning.

oddly enough...i always found gabapentin made me feel more slowed down than benzodiazepines did, but i think the benzodiazepines actually had a more pronounced effect...somehow, i just didn't notice it as much. strange...

good luck to you. :-)

It is fairly common for Lyrica to induce euphoria. It's very likely that Lyrica will receive further prescribing controls in future. Although it may initially seem great.... The problem is, it can cause dependence quite readily, so it's something to be treated with care.

If your doctor agrees to prescribe pregabalin for therapeutic use, I think it's important to increase gradually to find the minimum amount that makes you feel better. Taking doses which make you feel high, although a relief, can lead to a dependence situation where you feel worse when it wears off - often with much anxiety and low mood.

Use wisely :)

Hi,

Thanks both. I've driven in all sorts of states and must admit feel a bit reckless on the roads on Lyrica.

I'm noticing that if I take 150mg at night, feel pretty high the next morning but this afternoon am starting to come down and just want to lie down.

I don't think I will stay on this drug, although I can see how it could be very good for anxiety.

I will just take 50mg tonight and see how I get on with that.

Denise
