saint john's wort?!?!

Posted by Christ_empowered on July 28, 2018, at 14:33:49

im on abilify @ 20mgs, every day. could i add in sjw?

im doing the orthomolecular line up, mostly high doses (20 grams vitamin C, 1200 IU E, 3 grams B3, etc.), but...

my mood is -much- better, but I think I could use a lift. My current shrink is not big on antidepressants (for me, anyway), and I understand that switches and mood instability can be an issue, but...

id like to do -something-. in the past, ive had severe, severe, severe depression (agitation, voices, rapid weight loss), so I'm kind of also thinking about something for long term...if not prophylaxis, then at least something that will help 'take the edge off' any future episodes.

if not sjw, any advice? amino acids, perhaps? I thought about high dose b6, because im on a neuroleptic and i take at least 100mgs/day, anyway, but...

even the more modern orthomolecular shrinks seem against more than 200mgs or so on a daily basis, over the long haul. blah.

i should add that im tolerating the abilify quite well, with the vitamins on board. 0 EPS, no stiff gait, 0 TD, not even the crushing dysphoria I had with other 'atypicals' and with 30mgs Abilify, too (less pronounced then...more like NIDS or drug induced negative symptoms...).

OK. thanks for your help and suggestions, everyone. :-)

I think SJW can cause cataracts.

It can certainly lead to light sensitivity (skin).

ugh. maybe not, then. honestly, the orthomolecular approach helps considerably. the big thing is that i tolerate Abilify now, 0 eps, 0 td, no major dysphoria, etc.

i am considering adding in 4 grams taurine per day. maybe that will help?

With taurine more is not always better? I'm not sure what that threshold is. There are threads here where Larry Hoover is writing about it.

Having said that it works well for me.

how much do you take? The 4 grams idea comes from a recent study in younger people w/psychosis. works well with a tranquilizer, apparently.

Here's a bloke who thinks that a trip to the bottle shop once a week is a worry. Obviously not Australian or Russian. And with Larry talking about taurine. There are lots of other threads about taurine with Larry on them. Sometimes I take acamprosate when I want not to drink.
