I've used adderrall before with outstanding results but had to stop because if rapid heartbeat.....can I expect the same from Ritalin?

Probably, but it would be dose dependent.

Amphetamine also releases norepinephrine, wherase methylphenidate primarily inhibits reuptake. But they both raise norepinephrine and can raise blood pressure.

A slow release methylphenidate may mitigate these risks. Alternatively, you could add a beta blocker.

dexmethylphenidate effects less norepinephrine, focalin.....

same thing with dexedrine compared to adderall or evekeo, it doesn't have the levo isomer, only dextro which is more on dopamine, people with more attention and vigilance would be better on adderall or evekeo, they both have their own benefits

Daytrana transdermal doesn't increase my heartbeat. I'm not sure about blood pressure.

oh, and...this is a kind of off the wall suggestion, but...

for a while there, I was prescribed Bontril (phendimetrazine). The family doctor said it would help my concentration, too, along with helping me lose some weight. mine was the once daily capsule.

thing is...it was -a lot- like Adderall, in terms of mood and concentration, but physically...no jitters, no noticeable changes in blood pressure, and...well, it was just "cleaner," I guess, all around. Plus, its old, generic, and cheap, although my insurance at the time had 0 tolerance for diet pills, so it was out of pocket. If I recall, I ended up getting 1 or 2 refills, while still losing the pounds.

just thought I'd mention it, especially since I think one can still get refills. makes life easier.

My experience is that these are two very different meds, despite both being stimulants.

Adderall is the same Meth on the street and the illegal drug trade that causes so many longterm problems, except with a prescription and a nod instead of illegal drug dealer. It can help in the short term. Long term is not so promising.

I thought that Adderall felt like speed, or street drugs to keep me awake to study for a final exam all night long. But it wasn't pleasurable in any way. It also made me extremely darkly depressed. Terrifying.

Ritalin felt not like speed, but sort of like the pleasurable side of cocaine, only a lot more tame. Ritalin improved my depression, nuked anhedonia, improved sleep! The best sleep I ever had, the most natural sleep ever, was on the stimulant Ritalin! Go figure. And it got me engaged again in activities, social and hobbies.

I think each person will respond differently and so a personal trial is the only way to find out.
