hi. id vote...no. personally, i think my major psychotic episode changed my personality (surprisingly...not in a bad way...weird...). some people experience psychosis as sort of personal disintegration. i think thats a lot different from calling it some form of 'depression.'

of course, im not an expert, much the expert treating you, so...there's that, too. intelligent, relatively "high functioning" people w/ psychotic disorders often experience severe bouts of depression. its...interesting, because its one of the few forms of depression that is so clearly rooted in psychosocial factors that even the hardcore pro-drugs, pro-hospitalization shrinks will take a step back and wax reflective, about how society treats the mentally ill. anyway....

maybe that's what's going on? my official label/diagnosis on paper is "Bipolar I," but I'm labeled as "Schizophrenic" in the community (it is what it is, LOL). I get intense depression of a different sort than I ever did before The Breakdown. Pointing out the obvious ill effects of stigma and reduced opportunities makes me feel a bit better....its basically taking my personal bouts of misery and putting them into proper social context...but it doesn't make the low moods -better-, if that makes sense.

I don't know. Ever read "Stigma" ? I did, somewhat recently. As a "mental patient," it was interesting, how some people the sociologist observed -used- stigma to further their own interests. Got me to thinking about my own situation, "mental patients," in general....

I don't think putting a label on how you feel changes anything. Call it whatever. It doesn't help the journey.

There are a lot of heavy duty meds in that cocktail. And if you can't say you are significantly or remarkably improved on that cocktail, then maybe some of its ingredients need to be swapped out or dropped. I don't see any sense in the investment of your time, money and days of your life into something that isn't getting you engaged in life.

The one thing about the cocktail that strikes me as curious is how it is almost entirely constructed of heavy duty brain manipulating chemicals but hardly anything to address the actual causes of psychiatric symptoms. Vitamin D is all there is. There is nothing in there for anti-inflammatory, nothing for anti-toxins, nothing for anti-microbial, nothing to support and enhance the immune system other than the vitamin D, nothing to support and balance the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland.

My journey has been identical to everyone here, except that my journey took a turn late in the game that others here didn't take. In that I learned the importance of addressing the things that actually cause psychiatric stuff, instead of putting all of my energy into chemical ways of manipulating neurotransmitters. Depression is so much more than just levels of neurotransmitters. That's just an end-result tiny piece of a larger thing.

Anyway, you've come a long way. Keep up the fight!

Just make sure to take the probiotic far away from the Doxy. A good schedule is to take the meds during the day and then take the probiotic before bed.

My doctor told me that anything less than 100billion in probiotics is not going to be enough. I take 80billion every night and it does a good job. Realistically any amount is better than none.

Do you like sauerkraut? If so eat it often. It is very friendly at increasing probiotic levels. They love it. Anything fermented actually is good. Kefir for example is a great probiotic drink.

When the levels of Doxy in the blood spike high rapidly, that is where it is most effective. You can accomplish that by taking both doses at the same time. 200mg all at once. When I was on it, I took 200mg twice a day and sometimes 400mg once a day. That massive spike in the blood level is a good way to increase its effectiveness against stubborn bacteria.

In other words, a single large dose of Doxy is more effective than 2 divided doses. This is a powerful trick that LLMDs employ.

Another trick that works well is to "pulse" the Doxy. In other words, take it for a few days and then skip a day or two. Maybe 5 days on and 1 day off, 5 days on and 2 days off, 4 days on and 2 days off, anything similar. Many naturopaths and LLMDs practice the pulsing doses because it works. You can generate some serious Herxheimer reactions this way. Which is bad because you will feel bad - but you know that - but it's also really good because after you get past the Herxheimer you are on greener grass. Over and over. Persistence. Patience. The bacteria are tough. You have to be tougher.

You won't lose anything on the days off. The bacteria grow and multiply very slowly.

Here's how pulsing works. The bacteria are not dumb - they can sense danger. So when we take antibiotics they go into defense mode to protect themselves. They do that by hiding out in places where the blood, immune system and meds can't reach them very easily - cartilage, glands, bones. As soon as the danger passes, they come out of hiding and resume normal life.

The bacteria can also morph into different forms such as the cystic form, which is immune to Doxy. So on our days off, they switch back to the normal form where they are vulnerable to Doxy. And so when you start up again - especially with a high dose - you kill a bunch of them before they can go into hiding or morph. You do this over and over sort of like peeling an onion.

The survivors will make back to hiding. The next time you take a couple days off, they will come out of hiding. And that is when you nuke them again.

:-)

I tried CBD for a few months, i say sometimes it helps sometimes i get more depressed. im thinking of minocycline 50 about that trial that cured me 100% after a decade after only 3 days...
and also 1 another anti biotic ciprofrolaxin.

i tried clozapine (doctor didnt give me weekly blood test for my white blood cells), Zyprexa, Seroquel, almost all atypicals only seroquel low dose work, now i think it had some anti biotic properties like thorazine and a had a ketamine a like reaction (i am not allowed to take ketamine for my condition but ketamine gives a good normal feeling temporary my pdoc said)

Bleauberry will Kefir protect my good bacteria in my gut i need to be on a high dose of pro biotic when doxycycline?

I wish to be locked voluntiary up in an isolation room if i get a bad herx reaction before i get sane again
