I have a craving for psychmeds

Posted by Lamdage22 on December 21, 2017, at 3:28:28

Hello,

i feel pretty bad right now. Often times i get anxiety and paranoia and i just would like to take some Seroquel, Zyprexa or Lorazepam.

Any advice? Maybe taking Lorazepam as needed makes me more anxious when i am off Lorazepam?

i am thinking Chlorprothixene here. Hmm you guys know that i dont like taking drugs. I am immune to a lot of the low potency neuroleptics.

I certainly want to move away from lorazepam.

hi. I don't have solid advice, unfortunately. I would think that a switch to 1 tranquilizer, at a steady dose, would be better than 2 tranquilizers plus other drugs at varying doses, but...I don't have any medical training or anything, so feel free to ignore me, lol.

I've found that taking trileptal has helped me get the Abilify down to 20mgs. Not ideal, but I don't have EPS or dysphoria, no TD, etc., so I guess a full dose of trileptal is somewhat safer than additional tranquilizer (?).

I read on some info on Mad in America that animal studies have shown that lamictal w/ tranquilizers reduces some of the brain changes that usually go along with tranquilizer treatment. I don't know. Lamictal isn't w/o its own adverse effects, but it does help mood and if it reduces brain changes from tranquilizers...awesome.

benzodiazepines are not ideal, over the long haul. There's some limited, older data that seemed to indicate that sufficient doses of benzodiazepines, taken during the "prodromal" stage of psychosis, can keep people calm and such, w/o having to increase the tranquilizer dosage. But...the info I'm thinking of was from the 60s-80s, so not only were benzodiazepines given out more freely back then, but diagnosis was done differently, too. Those "Schizophrenics" might today be diagnosed with "severe Bipolar I" or even "psychotic depression," so...yeah.

Higher potency drugs generally cause more EPS, sometimes more TD, but there's less sedation and anticholinergic-related problems. Dosing is a big issue...high dose Haldol can be a nightmare, while a reasonable dose of, say, Stelazine could be easier to tolerate (maybe...).

Sorry about your situation.

I need to take the part of me that wants to create a chemical equilibrium away from the steering wheel and instead drive myself with my almost 29 years. I can understand the wish for numbness but i must resist it. I think there is a new more adequate more adult "me" in creation.

Hi Christempowered thanks, social anxiety is much worse than the bits of depression that i get. The depression that i do have is a result of social anxiety.
