Weight and parnate

Posted by chrismeurer on November 19, 2017, at 13:54:41

After 1 week on 10 mg a day of parnate, started taking 30 mg. I've been wondering how relevant is weight in achieving optimal dosage. I, for example, weight about 60 kg (~130 pounds). Didn't find any consensus on the subject, I guess other factors are much more important, right?

Hi Chris, I've read 0.7mg/kg but don't know the origin of that metric. I'd say to stick to psychotropical.info's guidelines which are based on BP changes upon standing.

Yes, I had hypotension, but couldn't accurately measure my BP standing. Dr. Ken told me to wait a few weeks on that dose and said it's excellent that i'm having low BP already. My doctor agreed to raise the dose to 60 mg if necessary. She's also open to augment with other drugs and even mentioned the possibility of adding vyvanse, though she admitted she doesn't know if it's safe and is going to study more.
Right now, i'm feeling much less anxious, I hope to see more improvement in the next weeks.

Interesting fact: I find out that where I live (Curitiba, Brazil) only two psychiatrists have prescribed parnate in a long time, mine is one of them.

I went to 60mg/day despite having a great BP response at 30mg and I've regretted it since severe depression started. I'll never know if that would have happened if I'd stuck at 30mg but I'd have at least felt better about following the guideline more :/
