Deplin for lamictal side effects?

Posted by porkpiehat on October 2, 2017, at 14:02:33

My new doctor thinks that my negative response to long-term lamictal (cognitive issues, sleep, rumination, muscle spasm) could be related to reduced methylfolate (??) and that Deplin would reverse it

I've never heard about this and my research on the relationship isn't turning up much. Any other Lamictal takers hear this before?

Definitely don't add deplin to Lamictal.

There was double blind study published in 2016 that found folate can nullify the effects of Lamotrigine.

Pretty sure this is the first time it was reported but I would print that and show your doctor.

Good site to search for info is scholar.google.com btw.

Interesting...thanks for the info. I had high hopes because the Lamictal has some nasty SE's or even primary effects on me. He also said that the bland, apathic SSRI feeling can be caused by lower methylfolate levels over time.

I take Lamictal and have since 2007 but I always seem to keep it around 100 to 150. It usually keepse out of a deep depression and if on dose increases I often get a bit of a boost moodwise. So I do like Lamical for me but jsut wanted to Menton folate can mess with it.

I seem to have negative reactions to a lot of supplements that are supposed to help anyway...vitamin d, dish oil, vitamin c(high), magnesium.....they all end up making me worse after a short period (days).

What happens to you with magnesium? I started taking it based on a Dr's report I read stated it can help with noise sensitivity/irritation that I have been experiencings lately. He seemed to be writing for the fibromyalgia and "damaged brain" patient.
