aripiprazole- a saviour!

Posted by Escapee on August 17, 2017, at 19:07:14

I thought I wrote about this, maybe it was on the other crappy site I used while this one was out. Anywayz!
Awesome! The simple addition of 5mg aripiprazole am (Abilify I think) has bought me right into remission. This has only happened once before. 2003 when I first began Nardil. I feel wicked! Any questions go ahead. Thought this would never happen again.

Abilify was a miracle drug for me, but made me gain a ton of weight. Currently, I use it on an as-needed basis. If I start to get really out-of-control depressed, I take 10mg/day and usually feel better within 2-3 days. Then I go off it before the weight gain starts. This, combined with parnate and lamictal, seems to have kept me out of the hospital for almost 4 years.

Thats great!
Interesting too. My doc initially wanted me to start on 5mg taken Mon, Weds & Fri am. Said it has a metabolite with a very long half life. I've not looked into it. Anyway, there was a big farce
with my script & I ended up with another stating 5mg daily.

it's beneficial effects on depression, it is well-known med now, i rerember it first came out and all the doctors they gave all these samples away, the famous ability

it pulls you out of a slump when you anti-depressant doenst do as much, i take lamotragine 200mg and it does work somewhat for pulling me out of mid-evening depression

Thanks!

I was somewhat worried that my doc was just trying out yet another AP. But I'm surprised that my energy levels have also cheeped up. I think that maybe when I said "lets give a stimulant a go before we look at Parnate or lithium again" it may have jogged his memory or something lol And with quetiapine doing diddly sh*t (maybe slightly above neutral) but the weight I've put on in the last 3 yrs due to quetiapine wasn't worth it to say the least!
I'm going back on the protein shakes (+ soya milk). Need to get back to eating oats again! Oats + soya milk is a major package of high carbs and protein making a perfect low GI meal.

Oh I had 10mins of euphoria this morning. Definitely in time with my morning dose. But I've figured out the culprit I think. BIOPERIN. Black pepper extract which enhances absorption of nutrients. Probably meds too. I never purposefully take it with meds for obvious reasons
