I loved buspar for the first week (low dose plus SSRI). I could read, concentrate, make jokes, didn't feel social subordinated. Then insane anger kicked in.
I'm reading that it's likely pp-1 metabolite stimulating alpha2 adrenoreceptors (antagonizing I think)

I'd love to start buspar again...it even helped sexually if I can recall. Would there be a way to block this action?
Please and thank you!

You could try Brintellix (vortioxetine) instead. It is not a DA receptor antagonist. It does not produce 1-PP. It has SERT inhibition, 5-HT1a partial agonism, and 5-HT7 antagonism. It should have little, if any, sexual side effects. It is new.

> - ScottThat sounds exciting! My pdoc had mentioned it but was unsure of its efficacy this early on She did describe it as SSRI+buspar, however.
I notice that it is also a NE transporter blocker. Would that cause similar agitation? Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and serzone all incited anger in me also, if that's any indication

>Vortioxetine(Brintellix) Ki at NET is 113 nM which means it is very weak.
For reference, Ki value for bupropion (Wellbutrin) is 1.4.
I don't see it causing any agitation due to this property. It doesn't cause any agitation for me, and I take 20mg. a day.
You could also try Viibyrd (vilazodone). It also has 5-HT1a partial agonism.
