Brexpiprazole-Here it comes

Brexpiprazole

It should be approved in the next few years-hopefully
Looks a bit more promising than some of the more recent drugs, to my tired eyes at least

What do you find appealing about this drug? What conditions are you treating?

Is there any advantage to brexpiprazole over aripiprazole (Abilify) with regard to side effects? Weight gain?

Cariprazine is a similar drug that I believe might be better for depression. It is like adding 5-HT7 antagonism to Abilify with emphasis on the D3 reward system.

Don't Overestimate me Scott! ;)

If there were Pharmacologist grades on this Sight I would be "Dabbler" & You & Ed among Others would be "Professional-Amateur"
To be honest its probably another useless "Me-Too" drug
I did noticed that the Patent on Abilify was about to run out......

I also noticed that they were trying to get it approved for ADHD, which made me hopeful
This is probably more to do with Money than with Brexpiprazole being any better for ADHD than Cariprazine

I know less about psychiatry than what people assume I do. I just use big words. Fortunately, there are people with true knowledge and expertise posting on Psycho-Babble. I try to learn from everyone.

I don't mind taking a "me too" drug if it were to mean that I could then be included in the "me too" club of treatment responders. It might be that a subtle difference in drugs will convert a TRD into a treatment success. For every new drug that becomes available, a certain percentage of previously treatment-resistant individuals will respond to it.

I wish us both luck!

From a receptor affinity standpoint, Brex as the metabolite of Abilify is in itself less of a D2 partial agonist and more of a direct antagonist. From this logic, I would suspect that it's not necessarily an improvement in terms of providing a better antidepressant effect over Abilify itself.

Hi JRB.

How have you been?

I've been stuck as a partial responder. I can survive this way, but I don't want to live this way.
