300mg Seroquel to 60mg Latuda in 10 days

Posted by mogger on January 27, 2014, at 16:33:34

Hi everyone,

I feel a bit rough at the moment as I am at day 5 of a switch from 300mgs of seroquel to 60mgs of Latuda by day 10. Basically I am tapering 50mgs of seroquel every two days from 300mgs to nothing. At the same time I started 20mgs of Latuda and go up 20mgs every 4 days to 60mgs. Feeling despondent that maybe the Latuda isn't working but could it be the drop in Seroquel that is causing me to feel so rough? I don't want to not give up on Latuda just yet but what I see in front of me is depression so it is difficult not to. I can't go back on Seroquel as the restlessness and tachardia was terrible and the bigger picture is that the seroquel didn't provide relief from depression any longer that's why we dropped it. Many thanks for your thoughts,

mogger

You can go up to 160 mg on the Latuda.

Thanks Eric. I am worried to go any higher than 40mgs of latuda as I read some other posters had emotional blunting on anything over. I had blunting anything over 5mgs of zyprexa so it is a concern to me. I suppose my post is more about whether the roughness I am feeling now is an indication that latuda is not working or could it be simply that I am coming off seroquel at the same time and feeling withdrawals while ramping up Latuda.

>I suppose my post is more about whether the roughness I am feeling now is an indication that latuda is not working

It may be too low a dose.

>I am coming off seroquel at the same time and feeling withdrawals while ramping up Latuda.

Atypicals typically don't carry with them withdrawal symptoms from stopping them. I imagine the dose of Latuda is too low.

Got it. One more question. Do you think that Latuda could potentially be as good for anxiety as Seroquel? Thanks Eric,

Joseph

Latuda should be as good for anxiety, if not better, sporting its 5ht1a partial agonism and 5ht7 antagonism.
