Lost my sex drive?

Posted by Sheilac on January 25, 2014, at 4:47:36

Maybe this is what stable feels like, but I've lost my interest AND ability when it comes to sex.

I'm up to 600mg of Oxtellar (long acting Trileptal) and it seems to work great for mood stability. But, having said that, I have no motivation whatsoever.

I can drop back to the 300mg tablets of Oxtellar and supplement with Klonopin 2-3 times a day ( usually just twice a day) and I can tolerate and stay stable, less numb but still no mojo.

So, again, I ask, is this was stable feels like? No sex drive, no interests? Just a blob on a couch?

I thought of adding back Abilify, but that made me super fat.

Now that I'm stable, is there a different med I should try for my bipolar depression? Anything better or safer for the heart than Geodon? (I worry because my mom has serious atrial fib heart problems).

I need my spark back people! I feel numb. Don't get me wrong, I do not want to go back to being unstable. This is the longest I've been stable in years, but I need to add something to the mix. I recently tried Adderall, but it gave me heart palpitations. Wellbutrin in the past has made me crazy manic. ADs give me bladder/urinary problems and take away sex drive. Geodon has been my go to for depression, but too little helps depression and makes me nervous and I think irritable and too much acts like a stabilizer and more numb. Geodon is a weird med.

I just want my sex drive and interests in life back.

I had this problem as well.I stumbled onto the cure for me.I found a old bottle a cop friend of mine left once called testim.

Testtim is a very potent form of testotrone you put a dot on your finger tip and quickly place it on your arm and it literaly disapears into your skin.Oddly leaves behind almost a scented pleasent smell.

The fact that it disappears before my eyes into my skin prob is the reason its so potent,in minutes with a little work my solider is up and ready for war fare,it even solved a life long problem of finising the battle which now with test tim it happens quite fast.

Id google testim and learn about it,good luck.

I don't think testosterone for a female. A combo of all the hormones for females. And a doc definitely needs to be consulted when hormones are involved. Phillipa

What other atypicals have you tried? I also feel Geodon is a weird med and for me just doesn't cut it for depression. I'll take it for an acute mixed episode but for maintenance use I felt my depression worsen.

I think something like Seroquel or Saphris might have more of an antidepressant effect, which it sounds like what you need right now.

>I can drop back to the 300mg tablets of Oxtellar and supplement with Klonopin 2-3 times a day

At 300 mgs, you'll lose most of the therapeutic effect of the Oxtellar and reap mainly side effects. 600 mg is low, but if it helps leave it so.

Taking a lot of Klonopin is a dirty way of achieving mood stability-its not really designed to provide mood stabilization. The Klonopin also imparts a lot of side effects-your lessened libido could be due to it.

>So, again, I ask, is this was stable feels like?

No.

>No sex drive, no interests? Just a blob on a couch?

Anhedonia is a real possibility. This would be a symptom of depression.

>is there a different med I should try for my bipolar depression?

There are plenty of drugs you can try to treat bipolar depression: minocycline, memantine, riluzole, Latuda, Lamictal, antidepressants, etc.

>Anything better or safer for the heart than Geodon?

If your looking for an AP, you could give Latuda a try.

>ADs give me bladder/urinary problems and take away sex drive.

TCAs, SSRIs, tetracyclics, Brillantix? Which ADs gave you urinary problems?

Not all ADs affect sex drive-Viibryd and Mirtazapine have a low incidence of side effects.
