Advanced help needed for detox of Baclofen please

Posted by Frequentfryer on September 10, 2013, at 20:04:59

Hi All.

I have suffered from Heavyweight Treatment Resistant Depression, Anxiety (specifically social anxiety) and ADHD for most of my life (30 year old male). I finally found a cocktail that gives me 100% remission: Parnate ( Tranylcypromine an irreversible MAOI) 50mg's Phentermine 60mg's (or slow release Methylphenidate 54mg's) {BP remains stable} plus Baclofen which I found a year ago.

For those who aren't to familiar with Baclofen:
Baclofen produces its effects by activating the GABAB receptor, similar to the drug GHB which also activates this receptor and shares some of its effects. However, baclofen does not have significant affinity for the GHB receptor.
There is a very similar agent called Gabapentin.

For me Baclofen was / is a wonder drug it doesn't just eliminate my anxiety but well I dunno how to explain it. TV shows and music and life in general is enjoyable on Baclofen. I have confidence and don't care what what people might think of me and just feel better when on it.
It has also eliminated my excessive alcohol consumption.

Sure when my psych first gave it to me I took his recommended dosage and it didn't really help. So I looked on Bluelight and some other people found it to be quite nice at slightly higher doses. So that's what I did. Took it at a slightly higher dose then prescribed. (A problem I have had for many years).
Now a year later I am at 320mg's a day. 4 times the recommended daily dosage. I told my psych and he said I could take up to a maximum of 200mg's.

Over the year I have tried detoxing myself 3 times. First time was successful (probably wasn't taking as much). Second time failure and last time (2 weeks ago) I went 5 days without it but couldn't leave my house or cook or clean or watch awesome TV shows just lay in bed taking heaps of benzo's and major tranquilizers and still couldn't sleep properly tossing and turning inside and out of minor nightmares.

I guess I just have to try again but lower the dosage slower, try and focus, mindfulness, exercise etc and don't be a pussy.

Although I would love to hear from anyone else who could give advice or personal experience on these other chemicals that may ease the detox or even help my symptoms more effectively.

Phenibut
Memantine
Tiagabine & Vigabatrin (sound hard to get)
or any others.

I know it probably sounds like I am a typical Bluelight junky trying to stay high 24/7 but I do intend on non daily usage of drugs in the future, it's just I need them now to try create a life worth living then I won't require all these pills so much. Well that's the plan. And I think I am slowly getting there after 8 years of trials and significant damage to my body.

Regards

Does Baclofen give you insomnia, and if so at what doses?

Do you think the phentermine could be more trouble than it is worth? IMO, and I could imagine you might agree, you might be better off on Dexedrine alone and no methylphenidate either. Without the phentermine would you find it easier to reduce the Baclofen?

Gabapentin and Lyrica I am familiar with and I use them only with restraint and only when I have to.

I took baclofen for a week and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I stopped taking it because it started to cause insomnia. A very slow taper would be the best method. When I had to quit benzos because of tolerance and interdose withdrawal, it took me four months to taper.

No Baclofen is more Sedating then Activating and after I abused Dex so much it gives me more anxiety then anything. But yeah I think I will stay off the Stims when I can while coming off the Bac.

I'm pretty sure Gabapentin would have a major cross tolerance with Baclofen.

I will have a look into Lycra.

Cheers mate.

So I gather you managed to get Dex in spite of our exclusion criteria for ADHD of 'drug seekng behaviour', not that that has stopped famous footballers from having that illness and the resulting prescriptions.

I have a good psych, so decent and sceptical, I don't like to ask, maybe I will just move to Peru to die.

btw, do you recommend Baclofen?

I have doubts about Lyrica and gabapentin. Most of these things are (lousy) opiate substitutes. Maybe I should just do the Australian thing and drink myself to death

Yeah I tried drinking myself to death but strongly recommend Baclofen. Probably my favourite AD the only problem is tollerance.
