10der thanks. What do you think about this good or bad? I do know the pharmacist is the one I question on any med? But shouldn't the doc and pharmacist discuss it? Not sure about the physicals either what's the screening for the Nurse Practitioners? It has good and bad. I don't know what to think? Phillipa

Sorry, Phillipa, I didn't/don't really have the time to read through it all. Have never needed to ask pharmacist anything about any meds yet. I do tend to find everything I can online and make up my own mind about what docs suggest I take, though.

Basically saying with new health care reform that pharmacists will assume more responsibility for patient care. That they will have the authority to change a patients med doses, have a lot of fancy equipment for assessing pts. That the minute Clinics that CVS has now will be manned by Nurse Practioneers. They will do school physicals, innoculations, prescribe meds. Pharmacists now also taught to give innoculations, call you if you don't refill your scripts, assume the role of what docs do today. As too few available. It's a good read. An eye opener for sure. My husband was reading it and that's why I posted it. Phillipa

I wonder how these changes will affect pharmacy technicians. Will they also be given an expanded role in managing the pharmacy if pharmacists are so busy consulting patients. Also regarding med doses for certain things I suppose but I doubt a pharmacist could say sure double your xanax for the next week

Well the average pharmacist makes in the $90.000 now and it's now the up & coming profession as they will work harder and assume more responsiblity. Don't know about the techs. It still amazes me that Nursing Assistants can now give out meds to patients. No RN training. Times are changing and not for the best. Scarey to me. Phillipa
