you may be right ..since my mom passed and i lost my job all within 6 mos. i have terrible anxiety..my dr scripted me ativan 1mg 3 time a day..i'm afraid to use that much ..because of getting hooked ...so i use only 2mg...1.5 for sleep and .5 in late morning...not doing the trick...am i being to cautious

I'm the same way with any med. If it's new take the full amount. Medicaire now will pay for benzos as safer than antipsychotics. Phillipa

i take twice 1 mg a day, but if i take 1 mg extra i can function much better with 1% anxiety, but they wont give it to me in clinic 2 mg twice daily

I feel it's okay as have taken a higher dose than this of ativan and the half-life is shorter intermediate. Less than klonopin & valium but longer than xanax. I'd guess at about 6 hours. Why not try .5 also later in the day? Phillipa

Yes that is my suggestion might work? What do you think? Still less than the 3mg you are prescribed but if the .5 is holding you in the am. Sounds like a good plan to try? Phillipa

I know what you mean...klonopin saved me. I also had ativan put into my iv at er that saved me.

That's okay just wanted to clarify. I have a problem with bipolar 2. Is this the anxiety one? Or am I wrong as used to be more clear cut. I don't know why the other three meds unless you have bipolar? Phillipa

viibryd now being tried for ocd...lamitcal and tegretol for bipolar 2 and ativan for anxiety not a full fledged manic depressive...he classes it as bipolar type 2...says i meet that criteria....know i have ocd and anxiety....dr claims he cannot give me an ssri for ocd without a mood stabilizer,,will go manic

philippa never really total manic before..very anxious and hyper and sometimes depressed...dr. says bipolar 2...i wonder about the 2 part if its not just another meaningless code....any way i do have ocd pretty bad and do need an ssri and dr. will not prescribe one alone -only with mood stabilizer....tried lamictal alone did not work.
i thhink your wondering if its med induced.
i am now joe f...had to reset name password etc.

You were Joe D? You know was thinking of luvox long acting today. I wonder what the equivalency dose of it is compared to the short term one I take. I'm finding this is helping a lot better than lexapro was. I have the luvox down to 25mg and lexapro at 5mg. Will stay with this dose for a while but wondering about the long acting one. I bet it's really expensive. Phillipa

yes i was joe d ..something got goofed up and i had to re-register....yes luvox cr is expensive.it is brand also you had asked me about id i was ever manic....probably hypo....pressurred speech..hyper extremely anxious....are my dr will not precribe an ssri without a mood stabilizer....are you thinking that sometimes you could have medicine induced mania

I did once but it wasn't manic just such extreme anxiety tripped on the dog leash and fell on the ground. The med was wellbutrin doesn't surprise me as of my diagnosis. Phillipa
