It gives you a headache in false light that for sure, but constantly scanning for answer,s to problem,s that you can never answer is bad. A little light relief on you tube or talking to loved one,s an friends is a booster against depression .

I know an awnser right off the top of my head, when i get on the laptop and get of facebook and see all these happy lives, it makes me feel effin sh*tty, next day too...

its like people get on and stare at the screen...hynotizing or something. The introduction of the at home PC greatly gave another pleasure besides the tv.. for its active time periods I would say since about 1996, that was when majority of US started getting personal PCs.

But still think about it you stare at the screen, not litterly, but it sucks concentration out, and when you get off there little dopamine. I don't know im just rambling on....

ill read the article i just throught id share that real quick....

Nobody would purposefully display their worst moments on Facebook. So you get online and see dozens of happy little lives -- but it's all illusory.

I've found the Internet to be profoundly activating. I become articulate in a way I can no longer be out in public; social anxiety is lifted because I'm not worried about being scrutinized for my awkward gait or looking disheveled.

I've found that playing online games (not obsessively!!) with a static and close-knit group of people has really helped me when my social and sex lives aren't going very well. When you live within walking distance of popular music venues and the gay strip it's very nice to have a distraction that keeps you out of trouble (and away from the bottle).

There was previous research on this a number of years ago by Japanese researchers who came to basically the same conclusion. It's something to do with exposure to light at night that can throw off the circadian rhythm. Light exposure inhibits the production of melatonin.

To add to this, in my own experience, Facebook was a very negative experience and exacerbated anxiety and depression.

I quit Facebook completely almost 1 year ago along with all social networking. I eventually felt much, much better emotionally after ending my participation there. Too much drama in my opinion and everyone *seems* to be happier than us.
