What other medical websites are similar to this?

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on June 21, 2012, at 23:29:31

there is not alot of people who read this stuff...maybe some person googling a topic and a dr-bob.org would come up but seriously I've got to find another website to start posting about my medical issues because there's not many awnsers here...there's alot of critism here and no one realizes that I'm looking for a solution for my issues that prevent me from living the life I should live.... just please hear me....if you could find anything that could awnser this question....I digest medications both under my tongue and swallowing it and it has no effect at all its like my body is resistant to alot of stuff....there's got to be an awnser and everytime I post here I get critized for using methamphetamine and that I suffer from unability to expierience pleasure...which is true....but its a result of my failure of mental function to finction correctly, which was present before all this....it just grew worse.

My mind is sluggish and I feel like i'm deterating in this condition...the only time I'm deterimined to diligently seek awnsers is when methamphetamine is used, and its too harsh on my mind to use it regulary...
I'm in a numb mindstate right now because I don't want to feel the pain of impending abandonment, the vary people who told me they would be right by my side left, and they acted like they never even said any of their flattering encouragement...people at NA insult me for a something that I can simply not help...my scattered thought process...I have to be ready for even my best friend to leave me because this has happened repeatedly over and over again over the years....it just comes in diffrent circumstances. This is why I extremly hate flattery....

most of this was my own doing for not having the correct-enthusatic manner to be envolved with people and some of these symptoms are signs, of schizophenia...I do get into a altered state when using stimulants of hearing the dark world of spirits, and resort my problems to them. But right now and the past couple weeks I've had extremely low dopamine levels, poor motor cordination, slow comeback comments to friends...and basically isolation expect for work.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's 4 years ago.. which is mild form of autism and I hide this from alot of people because once they think your autitic..its a catagory label of being mentally incompetant, i can never deal with fact that I'm autistic, i would rather be dead and forgotten like I never existed before I accepted that label.

Anyways, just if anyone could find another medical website that is similar to this... would be great...but what I ask please is to find out whats causing these medication to not work at all and these are potent medications too...

thank you for time, and thank you for reading friend....

RJ,

I wish that I had an answer to your question concerning why medications seem to have no effect on you after a while. Could you do me a favor and let me know if you ever find an answer to your question, whether it's from someone on another Web site or someone else not on the Web? I can't even tolerate most medications these days, but every time I take a supplement that I find helpful, it works for a few days, a week, a few weeks, or at most, a month before losing its effects entirely. What's more puzzling is that when I try the same supplement again months later, it still has no effect. It doesn't even work for a little while and then stop like it did the first time I took it. I wouldn't blame others for thinking that maybe my responses to supplements are really placebo responses, but knowing how I feel when I do respond to supplements, I'm convinced that what I'm experiencing is not a result of the placebo effect. So, what's happening to prevent you from experiencing long-term benefits from medications and to prevent me from experiencing any benefits from supplements once they've worked for a little while and then stopped? I don't have the answer, but I wish you luck in finding it. I'm sorry if I couldn't be of more help.

Have you been to any IRL support groups besides NA? Maybe something specifically geared toward schizophrenia? You might meet some people there that can share about their experiences with meds and trying to get well.

Another website I read is psychcentral. However, if you find babble readers to be tough on you, I don't think you'd do well on PC. They don't really have civility rules there, so people feel free to be downright mean. I have been very hurt and attacked there for relatively innocuous posts.

Best,
EE

These are just guesses:

I don't think the brain likes to be different from that which it is convinced it should be. It is perhaps too plastic in this regard. When exposed to a psychotropic, the brain reacts by invoking changes in gene expression in an attempt to maintain its equilibrium. Sometimes a new phenotypic equilibrium is set (response), and sometimes the old equilibrium is approximated (non-response) using new values. However, one can briefly pass through a period in which new values are enacted which lead to a temporary response. However, this occurs while the brain is en route to the establishment of the old phenotypic relationships that existed prior to drug exposure, thus precipitating a relapse. In other words, the brain is adept at changing in order to stay the same. This adeptness is a manifestation of plasticity. In many instances, the brain will never be the same after exposure to a drug than it was prior to exposure. This is why the same drug often doesn't work a second time.

I don't know if this is indeed the way things work, but it is probably a reasonable guess.

Scott this is how I've always felt. That the brain acclimates to a med and then it's back to what it knows is it's homeostasis. If so how do some do well on meds for long periods of time? The people I meet in real life? Or decide they no longer need meds and go off them? When too many meds have been used wouldn't this damage the brain forever? Hence why I've stayed at low doses of meds. But they when I asked the endo if synthroid was a med you could form an allergy to he responded with it's a hormone and the body needs it so no was his answer. So thinking as I write this would mean that only meds added that do not have a key to fit the body would not work long term? Phillipa

Hey Scott, thanks for asking. It has been a bit of a roller coaster lately. I had an amazing response to TMS in February, but had a horrible depressive relapse in May. I did another round of TMS, but it didn't work as well as the 1st time. We have started to think that what is going on with me is bipolar II. It also became clear that going without meds will not be possible. I started on some Lamictal this week. It was a hard decision because I wanted to be med-free to try to get pregnant, but it was just not safe for my own health and well-being. The decision was made more difficult because my pdoc would not rx the lamictal and was really awful to me about it. I have a new pdoc now who seems good, but the whole experience was hard on me.

Fingers crossed for success on lamictal and getting pregnant soon!

Best,
EE

Thanks Zy....

I am going to have to make some time to go there and check it out....im doing responses...knowing I procrastinate...but seriously thank you for your help, I've seen so many medical websites and drug sites like bluelight but their not really like a full communitity like babble, and plus I really don't like changing but I need to...its not that this site isnt helping, but it's just limited in some aspects....it's difficult to write posts of things no one knows how to assist, still the good thing about babble is its like a online home.

Thanks, friend

Scott, finally I got 1 awnser to a cause of this...thank you...you know that does make sense but the only 2 substances that will not be resistant to my body is alcohol and methamphetmaine. So knowing that their must be an awnser to this crazy s h i t that is forcing me to lower into bad conditions because my body has decided to cancel all effects....to keep equilibrium, you know just think of a car that keeps having problems and then when you put gasoline and oil and radiator fluid thinking it will make the car better, nothing and you really want to take this car and throw it into the incinerator...get a new one. Yea, its like that.

u gave me some good pointers, thanks...

yea phillipa, its frustrating...i've increased my medication doses to high amounts and my POS system decides its going to screw it up and make conditions more miserable. If I stepped on a fork at a resturant it would go right up and hit the correct stop in the cieling and collapse it...then land in someone's salad, leaving me screwed and someone else in better terms perfectly planned by universe.
