Wellbutrin, Aricept for sexual dysfunction?

Posted by novelagent on June 14, 2012, at 0:08:56

I had a doc who claimed Wellbutrin only worked on sexual dysfunction by increasing dopamine, and told me it would be pointless to try it if I was having problems still while on amphetamine, because "amphetamine increases dopamine 100 times more than Wellbutrin." I was wondering if Wellbutrin does more than just increase dopamine-- maybe it alters the way the dopamine manifests itself somehow?

And what about a dopamine agonist? Pramipexole, I think, would work the same way as Aricept, and I feel more comfortable with Aricept... would Aricept give me hope, even if amphetamine doesn't do anything for my lack of sexual interest?

I've been off Effexor for like 2 months now. No sexual interest still, no erections, even with Cialis. I'm wondering if dopamine agonists, I don't know, maybe they might just trip up some wires just the right way, so dopamine does its thing normally again?

I mean, after all, if it were just a matter of upping or lowering dopamine, dopamine agonists wouldn't make my mood so much brighter and my cognition so much stronger, and do so much for my mood (maybe acytlecholine plays a role in sexual function?)

Oh well. I hope I don't have this for the rest of my life.

Wellbutrin effects noradrenaline more than dopamine, this is why It's sometimes causes anxiety who already have anxiety disorders...wellbutrin is not strong like Focalin or Cocaine in reinforcement of significant increase of DA, it doesnt provide the psychostimulant effect all the way but it will bring the mood into better dopamine in feeling back to doing regular actives that depression causes to lower intrest in..

It's a mild stimulant in my terms because it does activate areas that are low, though much less potent than amphtamine. 450mg is about roughly 5mg of adderall in activating terms, above 450 to higher doses it no longer continues to act like a psychostimulant, it has bigger risks of causing sieuzres, I've had a sieuzre on wellbutrin and didnt know it, until I read about it. Something that would be alot of better than wellbutrin that no longer around is Cylert, its diffrent.

Try L-Tyrosine....GNC, other nutri stores. Take about 3000mg and it will increase sexual desire.

Trazodone, Gingko for sexual dysfunction

I noticed Trazodone at bedtime helps for sexual dysfunction. It antagonizes the receptors that cause SSRI dysfunction and often causes an erection one hour after taking it. Gingko Biloba helps too. Be sure to check your blood pressure. High blood pressure is bad for erections. I take atenolol which has helped much.

dopamine sure seems to be involved in libido. I take zoloft and wellbutrin and that combo seems to spare my sexual function. Ive tried a few other SSRIs and this is the best so far in that regard.
Hes right about amphetamine releasing more dopamine. tried any of the other stims like dexamphetamine or methylphenidate? might be a little heavier on dopamine than noradrenaline.

I'm on 70mg of Vyvanse. Stimulants don't do anything for what I've got... oddly enough, when I ocassionally would cram in an all-nighter and take a little extra Dexedrine when I was prescribed that, it use to get me quite, well, not high, but a flight of ideas... I haven't had thatr ever since I accidentially took 1000mg of Effexor. It like it burst some brain cell or something. I also sometimes got hypersexuality on higher doses of amphetamine, but now, I get no sexual interest whatsoever.

I tried 200mg of Trazodone, and it does nothing, if anything, it reduces sensitivity down there, but yet I get a morning erection (but not at 100mg). Odd.

I hope Aricept basically acts to repair my brain. It seemed to have that effect last time I took it, only in the sense that I could, after several months while on it and not doing any all-nighters, remember being able to do an all-nighter spendidly, without any pain in my head, and my paper was coherent...

so it eems to have, for the months I took it, restored my dopamine stores. I wouldn't get anhedonia and feel like I was in a coma when I didn't take amphetamine when I had Aricept, and even a few months after being off Aricept.
