Lithium has been known to help manic depression, many times I have asked people whats its effects are and they usally said it keeps your from high but it keeps you from falling into depression. It's vary useful even today...you should check into Provigil...its not really known to have any psychiatric side effects like amphetamine, yet it does still do have side effects, there just less pronounced. Low doses of caffeine until you see your doctor should help.

Good luck!

I'd avoid lithium if at all possible. Lithium+antipsychotics commonly equals EPS, even if before you were tolerating the antipsychotic just fine. Plus, I think it ups the TD and NMS risks.

What kind of depression? Apathy, fatigue, or something more agitated? Do they xanax in your country?

well the thing I dont get is why they dont put you an a mood stabiliser. it is known that its beneficial in shizoaffective disorder...

I am shizoaffective too, am on seroquel and amisulpride plus 300mg of lithium. I think it should be quite side effect free to take a "low" dosage of lithium". I dont have any side effects at all.

Since adding lithium I am MUCH less anxious and less shy, more relaxed and well just much much better.

go and give it a try. if its crap, you can quit anyway...

I was on lithium for a while for bipolar mostly depressed (at that time) and had no side effects. Except after a year, I started drinking over 100 ounces of water a day. Lithium caused hypothyroidism. So just watch for that. I miss it, frankly.

Jeroen,

Do you take an AD? Or have you ever. I felt much better after I started Celexa. Before that I was on just zyprexa.
