I'm not dissing meds as a whole; I'm dissing the over-prescribing.

Ron I'm glad you clarified by over prescribing. That is true for some. But if a person has hasimotos thyroiditis as I do it's a med I must take for life. I hate the synthroid but must. If diabetic type I also need insulin. If bipolar the classic manic depressive I've personally had an ex's Father have it he was normal and created an empire when on his med each season he went off and never slept took off spent money for weeks on end, cut down trees on property that wasn't him then would crash and stare at walls for weeks till the meds work. So in essence I agree with over prescribing. Phillipa

Over prescribing, yes, this article makes valid points.I wish I had taken my klonopin as needed instead of everyday.

The article does make some very good points. Its a bit shocking when you start to think from that persepective.

I love the fact that they list the webmd site for encouraging patients to forget about the side effects of antidepressants and continue taking their meds. The problem is that the strongest voice is that from the "authorities". Everybody else is just a scientologist.

I don't know web md is geared toward the public. I find their articles simplistic and not full of a lot of technical stuff. So some articles I like. Phillipa

You don't have to be a Scientologist to hate meds or disagree with their existence and I don't think that every doctor is trying to get you hooked on meds.
My doc recently mentioned going prn on Clonazepam and cutting Seroquel from 300 to 150. I wasn't ready, I am now. Plus I just quit Ambien last week and I want to cut Vyvance from 100mg a day to 70. I see him today.
In his words, upping doses is not the answer. I like him very much and feel safe with his prescribing.
