Cytokines If Inflammatory How To Eliminate

Posted by Phillipa on April 9, 2012, at 12:02:38

If cytokines as JB Becker states in the article are inflammatory. How does one rid themselves or control them? Seems might be hidden link to all kinds of illnesses. I've read of them and looked them up but haven't found a real formula for eliminating them. Say serotonin low yet so many meds can produce serotonin syndrome so where is the happy medium? The SSRI's or natural remedies? Phillipa

The problem with using turmeric (curcumin) to reduce cytokines is that it isn't very absorbable. There's a form or curcumin that became available a few years ago (I haven't tried it) called BCM-95. Its absorption rate is supposedly up to seven times better that other forms of curcumin.

Sulforaphane suppresses inflammation. The best sources of it are broccoli sprouts, broccoli sprout extract capsules, and sulforaphane capsules.

Curcumin and sulforaphane work synergistically to reduce inflammation. Most of the research on this combination has been done in cancer research, but curcumin combined with sulforaphane might be an effective treatment for depression. The BCM-95 form of curcumin is supposed to be far more bioavailable than other forms of curcumin.

The lyme herbs I am familiar with are potent cytokine modulators. I take them and find them therapeutic for that very reason, not just because they are natural antimicrobial agents.
