Thinking Dangerous For Me

Posted by Phillipa on October 16, 2011, at 12:09:13

As usual I'm thinking too much trying to figure out all the stuff that's going on in real life, and also what I read and hear. I hate to backtrack but with this new vitamin scare for lack of better words. Will you continue to supplement. As I know those with bad bones are told by their docs to take calcium magnesium, and extra C and majority always recommend a good MVI. Lots recommend Fish oil and others so what is your plan. And how does Deplin a med fit into this? And then the scares about meds all categories. What would happen if people didn't take either? As I said I think a lot so kind of writing my thoughts today as it leaves you not knowing what to do. Thanks again Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,

I'm still pondering about what to do about the vitamin thing. Will probably look into what Dr. Mercola thinks and then my own naturopath along with researching it myself but I haven't taken the time yet.

I will continue to take Vit. D, magnesium, vit. c and that's about it for now.

I take a multivitamin/mineral, selenium 200mcg and fish oil every day, and will continue to do so

The selenium was founnd to cut cancer rates in half in a major study couducted by the University of Arizona a few years back.

I take fish oil because I dont like eating fish, and the multi to even out any ups n downs in my diet (my diet isnt perfect!)

I think avoiding mega doses would be wise, for example, you can get pills containing 100mg of vitamin c or 400iu of vitamin d, and it would be virtualy imossible to get thses sorts of levels from he diet.

I'd keep on with an RDI type multi, your fish oil and your calcium/magnesium, and avoid maga doses of any one vitamin or nutrient.

You might also consider adding selenium, its cheap and it ahs an amazing effect on cancer rates

That's what I also feel now for postmenopausal females iron should not be part of the MVI. No longer needed thickens blood. Phillipa
