Klonopin trileptal effexor xr and ambien

Posted by FrustratedMama on September 24, 2011, at 22:03:38

Trying this new combination- experiencing a lot of fatigue but less anxiety -I still have gaps in my coverage which result in an both agitation and anxiety (especially inAM and before bedtime dose of Ambien) any advice? The fatigue and brain fog are seriously impacting work performance- need to be clear headed but calm- so wish I was normal- people who are mentLly stable don't realize how fortunate they are - :'(

Anyone have any thoughts on this combo?

Hi FM.

Can you provide more details regarding your symptoms and diagnosis? Which previous treatments were helpful and which were harmful?

I did not suffer "brain fog" with Trileptal. However, because it is closely related to Tegretol (notorious for cognitive impairments), my guess is that some people do. Perhaps it will pass given time.

Hi FM,

How about doses and timing too? I'm reading along.

fb

Oh, remember that you have not only started new meds, but withdrawn from one, the vyvvanse. I have read that while there may not be an acute stim withdrawal, there can be a number of months for the brain to return to a more normal, stimulant dependent state. I might have mentioned this to you or someone here on the board. If you have ADD (plus fatigue?) like me, it's takes some adjustment. Hopefully Effexor will be picking up much of the slack.

Hi Scott And FB
Skipped the klonopin today and actually did okay! Crossing fingers that this isn't temporary. Previous meds that were too much for me include the atypical antipsychotics and lexapro....I have benefitted at one time or another from most others but suffer FREQUENT poop out :(. Most meds haven't fully addresed symptoms or caused side effects. My symptoms are agitation, anxiety, insomnia, eating too much or sleeping too much, rage attacks, negative thinking, and lack of motivation, difficulty focusing, and impulsiveness. Hope this helps and that you both are doing well! FM

Racing thoughts?

Rapid cycling?

Do you feel sufficiently rested despite sleeping only 3 hours or less?

This sounds like a bipolar I mixed state.

Which mood stabilizers have you tried (lithium, anticonvulsants)? For your purposes, Klonopin would be included in this category.

FM,

How's the tripletil treating you today? I'm curious if the cognitive effects diminish over time. You seem fairly med sensitive.

Is it slowing down the symptoms you mention above? You know I don't really know. The bipolarity Scott remarks upon is worth considering. Hopefully trileptil will address that if that's the case.

> Racing thoughts?
Yes and no....during the rage attacks I am thinking one way (like I need to stop) but acting another...not racing thoughts necessarily?

> Rapid cycling?
Yes, daily....! Tried to explain this to pdoc.....who didn't seem to think this was possible.

> Do you feel sufficiently rested despite sleeping only 3 hours or less?
Not really, I feel tired most of the time (probably why pdoc doesn't call it bipolar)

> This sounds like a bipolar I mixed state.
I thought so too!

My pdoc doesn't even think its bipolar 11 (I disagree) I have done a lot of research and really like the psych education website (which my last pdoc recommended). I have since moved across country so cant access my old pdoc anymore. My new pdoc is very old school...either you have a clear manic or hypomanic episode or you are not bipolar. At least pdoc is willing to try the mood stabilizers. which is why we added trileptal and klonopin....seems to be better....but the beginning and shock to my neurotransmitters always seems to help for a few days...sometimes only last a couple of days. That's what I worry about the most :(

How is the new med vibryd going for you?

Hi
It's early here but day 2 of seeming to be okay! I am crossing my fingers....are you still doing well? I read your post above...gabapentin actually created more brain fog for me than trileptal....it seems very smooth so far....YAY! I took gabapentin twice....first time for sleep which worked great (I was taking 1200 mg at night only. Second time I took during the day 300 mg three times a day which was not so great- felt really out of it. But at night worked wonders and no side effects or trouble changing to different med when I got pregnant.

Thanks for asking.

Today is my second day. Viibryd must be a pretty potent drug with its action of serotonin reuptake inhibition. I felt a slight, but unmistakable, improvement in depression after the very first dose. This happened with TCA and Effexor. This small improvement has persisted. I hope it continues, of course. However, if it doesn't, that doesn't exclude the possibility that this is a blip improvement, and that a more stable improvement will occur several weeks from now. I have a good feeling about this drug.

Fingers X

Hi FM.
