Posted by Phillipa on June 10, 2011, at 12:57:09

Anyone ever take neurotin with xanax for sleep? Friend of mine is and can find nothing to support this. Phillipa

One poster does (w/o the xanax, I believe).

Could help pain, too.

Keep us posted,

I used to take Lyrica (the more potent successor to Neurontin) for GAD. I was on the drug for around a year at it's highest dose (600mg). I did nothing to help me sleep - I still had to rely on sleeping drugs when I couldn't sleep.

Phillipa lyrica for GAD? did it work? I'm doing OK, it's now 2 weeks on cymbalta and I may not need anything additional for anxiety but I'd like to hear about lyrica for anxiety.

Haven't taken neurotin or lyrica. Hear lyrica can be addicting? No experience though. Information gathering. Glad cymbalta working for anxiety!!! Phillipa

I have taken the two in combination without a problem. Neurontin used to work wonders for my anxiety but lost efficacy after some time.

I would say cymbalta is working on pain, anxiety and depression. So now I have to find out how to prevent poop out. meds work fast on me but poop out quickly too. Was just reading that taking a drug holliday doesn't prevent cymbalta poop out. abilify is said to prevent poop out but I'm not sure if I trust that. It seems like a lot of advertising to push abilify. combining other AD's is suppose to help and I'm on 3 AD's now plus SAM-e and NAC and acytle l-caritine and all the vitimins and minerals I take. I would like advise to prevent poop out

I don't feel abilify can prevent poopout. Very expensive med also. I think poop out is so individual. Phillipa

I tried Neurontin for anxiety. First I took it as a sleeping pill, and then when it stopped working I had to take in during the day. Made me dumb as could be, and set off so me weird kind of anxiety I'd never experienced before, so I still had to take my Klonopin. Not a good experience.

As for preventing poop out...I have no idea. Taurine apparently prevents some brain changes related to ongoing Haldol (and probably other antipsychotic) treatment in the brain. This seems to prevent TD and I would imagine prevents the need for dosage escalation that's so common in long-term antipsychotic treatment. Maybe you could try that? I take 6 grams daily, in 1-2 doses.

Back before the antipsychotics became the big thing, I heard a doctor claim that anticonvulsants could prevent poop out. Something about "kindling." Worth a try, I suppose--lamictal, maybe?

Good luck.
