Ketamine and GHB both act very similar to alcohol on the brain.

What you really need to do is get some good old therapy and get to the bottom of why you are using alcohol as an escape. Also, you may want to go to some alcoholics support group, I'm just not too crazy about AA.

What is it about alcohol that appeals to you?

What is your illness and what are its symptoms? How does your illness make you feel? How does alcohol affect the way you feel?

> Im gonna became an alcoholic and I know that its not good , but I need relief

Relief from what?

> maybe a combo med would do it?

Do what?

I think you will receive more focused feedback if you provide some more information.

You could bear these in mind.....
Gabapentin
Baclofen
Acomprosate (Campral)
Lyrica (too toxic,IMO)
theanine
GABA under the tongue
and benzos, as you know.

If you drink too much (or even any amount) it will probably have an adverse effect on your sleep.

I was thinking that gabapentin would be a good choice if social anxiety is an issue.

> Lyrica (too toxic,IMO)

In what ways is Lyrica too toxic?

Benzo's are the most like alcohol. Thats what they give you in the hospital when in alcohol withdraw. Not sure exactly which one, but think its atavan.

It's just an impression, I have not taken it......(swelling, weight gain), and anyway gabapentin is strong enough.

Gabapentin may be a bit weird for SA.

It is useful for sleep, which is what I take it for.

There is quite a bit conjecture and anecdotal descriptions that lend evidence to the successful use of gabapentin to treat social anxiety and social phobia. However, I found only one blinded trial using 64 subjects.

Abstract

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of gabapentin in relieving the symptoms of social phobia. Sixty-nine patients were randomly assigned to receive double-blind treatment with either gabapentin (dosed flexibly between 900 and 3,600 mg daily in three divided doses) or placebo for 14 weeks. A significant reduction (p < 0.05) in the symptoms of social phobia was observed among patients on gabapentin compared with those on placebo as evaluated by clinician- and patient-rated scales. Results were similar for the intent-to-treat and week-2 completer populations. Adverse events were consistent with the known side effect profile of gabapentin. Dizziness (p = 0.05), dry mouth (p = 0.05), somnolence, nausea, flatulence, and decreased libido occurred at a higher frequency among patients receiving gabapentin than among those receiving placebo. No serious adverse events or deaths were reported. On the basis of these limited data, it seems that gabapentin offers a favorable risk-benefit ratio for the treatment of patients with social phobia. Further studies are required to confirm this effect and to determine whether a dose-response relationship exists.

A rare disease its a combination of depression , social phobia and mild psychosis i think

I dont want to socialize with anybody , Im always alone , I dotn have friends , I have great fear of people , I feel everybody is watching me and I cant resist that , I dont like to talk nor to interact with the world
Im not living im just breathing air but I dont have feeling for anything
its very difficult to me to explain in words what I feel , Ive never been able to do it , nobody undertands me

Im layed on my bed watching tv , I dont want to do anything

I take Xanax 2 mg per day
Maybe PARNATE would help??

That might explain the Xanax. It is possible that you are experiencing some behavioral disinhibition with both Xanax and alcohol, the consequences of which would make you feel more social and talkative with a reduction in fears and anxiety. In addition, Xanax is the BZD that produces the most robust antidepressant effect.

As you have already indicated, you may have comorbid depression (major depressive disorder or dysthymia) along with social anxiety that would be responsive to an antidepressant with or without gabapentin. If you are ready to take a MAOI, I would recommend trying Nardil before trying Parnate. There is more convincing data for the efficacy of Nardil for social anxiety and social phobia. If you should develop intolerable side effects, you might then go back and try Parnate. It seems that anhedonia comprises a large counterpart of your illnesses. Either MAOI is capable of addressing this.

He has always sais Im a normal personal that must be able to have a normal life . Everybody look at me in that way , all people , all doctors , many think Im overeacting , that I just need to get distracted and live but I cant do it

Maybe you just need something to augment the Nardil like Abilify or something along those lines. I am on Parnate, but I still need Nortriptaline for my depression.
