SInce I couldn't get the Adderall XR I start Dexedrine last week. I like it. The only problem is I don't know when to take my second dose. I don't want to wait for the first dose to wear off (because then I crash). I take the first one at 7:30 am and I take the second dose at 2 pm.
Anyone familisr with the dosing?

Glad you're liking the spansules. Dose timing seems a personal matter. Does your current timing work? You're right to take the second dose before you descend too much. And, then, not late in the day as to interfere with sleep.
If it's later, I will use the tablets.
I dose sometimes 3× per day. But my situation warrants it :(

Oh. You can fill in with a tab if you have gone to far into a crash. Trial and error to stay between buzzed and brown-out. Luckily my doc allows flexibility. Don't know if you have addiction issues, but being BP and from talking with you, I know you know the negative results of feeling too good....

Today I took my second dose of 15 mg at around 2 pm and I fell asleep. Maybe I need to try a different dose, or maybe Dexedrine is not the med the med for me.

Unfortunately, I can sleep on the spansules, too. I currently take 20 in the am--a spansule and a tab. Or you could pour have your spansule to approximate 5-7 mg and safe the half cap fort later. I told you I an legally allowed to taken sixty mgs per. Day, though doc know I custom fit me dose. The two times I TOook 70 it didn't help plus felt kinda ill.maybe, Just a thhought you' d do better with two stronger. Or three doses.
Once I pushed the fatigue, I can feel good for hours.Then there are those other days where I spend almost the day in bed. Not feeling suicidal; rather tired to sleep.
One heck of a sleepy, lazy speed addict I am :(

60 mg of Dexedrine is a lot, but hey, I am on 30 mg and I don't feel any positive effect from it. I am scared that if I asked my pdoc to raise the dose he will think that I am drug seeking ... which I am not. I just want to feel better.

Maxime, I forget which doctor this is, your older old doctor or someone new.
You don't come across as a drug seeker. Tell him the truth, that 30mg isn't helping, and see what he says. Does he think Adderall would be better? Would he be willing to increase your dex incrementally? (Is cycling an issue with stimulant therapy?)
Therapeutic ranges can go as high as 100 (!) if I understood my doc. My max is about 60, which means if 60 ain't working, nothing will work that day. My dose range is based on the beginning of negative side effects. After 60 (I've gone
as high as 70 total one day), I don't feel good--stomach, all-over body yuck.On good days, 45 can work. I average about 50.

The doctor is my elderly psychiatrist. I think something happened to him because he has not been answering my emails which he always does. I hope he is okay.
I think the Adderall works better for me. But my pdoc will have to fill out a bunch of forms to get it for me. He will do it though.
I feel like crap tonight and I really hope I wake up in a better mood tomorrow morning for my first day on the job.

Maxime, I experimented with my dosing yesterday. In the morning I took two spansules for a total of 30mg extended release. (After I swallowed them I had to talk myself out of panicking.)
Well, anomaly or not, the day was fine. I took 10mg in tablets around 5:00. That brings me in at 40mg for me--on the low side, which is good.
I'm trying it again today. I see my shrink today and will tell him (hope it's alright). I also required much less pain med....
Could just be the fluke good day. Morning is the very worst, usually, but I don't want to over-medicate. I am also fearful of using up my meds for the day and having an awful, non-functional afternoon/evening.
Ultram er helps tons with the a.m. Maybe extra stimulant? Wish me luck!
(I remember younger days when a cup of strong coffee worked all day....)

I don't advocate self-medicating, but maybe if you want to experiment, the spansules easily open. You could try adding half a spansule or so one day.
(Opening doesn't change the timed release.)
P.S. my doc was o.k. with it. we're gonna monitor....

Maxie, I am uncomfortable with what I wrote and encouraging experimentation with the spansules.
Ingesting the contents of the spansules w/o the capsule could affect the delivery rate (speed it up). I meant to open two, place some from one into an entire cap, and reseal both.
With a controlled substance, one should take care to preserve one's record as responsible. AND when you said maoi's, I had forgotten (sorry--duh). I woke up worried about you.
I know you make good decisions; my advice was a bit blithe :(

I am surrounded by kids, but the seniors come in for their computer course. This week I have been calling people about attending etc. and next week the course start. Yay!

Again I took 30 mg in the morning and pushed my next dose to 3pm and that worked better than yesterday. I will try it again tomorrow.

I took the usual 15 today in the am. The past two days of a double dose didn't help. Nice to know that my head won't explode if I take 30 if I need to. Fortunately I'm able to adjust my daily dosage.
So you work tomorrow and have Sat. off?
