Does Risperdal make you sleepy?

Posted by Deneb on July 11, 2010, at 23:44:02

When I don't take my nightly meds I find I just stay up all night. I don't get sleepy until about an hour after I take my nightly Celexa and Risperdal.

Am I dependent?

I just don't go to sleep when I don't take the Risperdal and Celexa!

As such I need to develop a routine for taking my meds if I want to do well in uni this fall and winter.

Does Risperdal cause drowsiness? by what action?

Does it make you sleepy? What are your experiences with it? What happens when you skip it?

I'm on a very low dose of 0.75 mg. What dose are you on?

I've heard that doctors prescribe Risperdal as a sleep aid because one of its side effects is that it makes you drowsy. One of my best friends was prescribed this for that reason.

I've taken as much as 3 and am currently at 1mg. I don't find it makes me all that tired per se. But it in combo with my nightly magnesium and sleep routine does make me drowsy.

I love risperdal. My doc has me take an extra 1mg when I go into mix states and I usually calm down in a day or so. It's a great med beside the weight gain.

Do you take Risperdal as an augmentation to other drugs?
