Day 2 wellbutrin xl (budeprion xl) -- tired

Posted by CaffeinePoet on May 5, 2010, at 11:30:49

Hey folks,

Day 2 of wellbutrin xl (generic budeprion xl).

Feeling strangely tired, not at full dose yet. ALSO dealing with a thyroid problem that already made me tired.

Any tips on riding this out? I know this will probably be super-energizing once I hit the full dose on day 5.

On the plus side, I feel more optimistic -- think it might be placebo but who cares?

What is the full dose?

I take 150 mg with Nardil and Synthroid. It doesn't do that much but gives me the extra energy I need to function marginally.

What else are you taking?

SG2

My full dose will be 300mg.

I am taking Levothyroxine, 125mcg. And selenium to help convert the T4 to T3.

I checked the ingredients of my tab to make sure it didn't have calcium or something that would interfere with thyroid medication absorption.

I started out taking 300mg. of Wellbutrin XL and had a lot of energy for three or four days and then it seemed to be making me tired(although I may have just been feeling the way I did before I started taking it). I took it for about a month and then just stopped cold turkey, and didn't feel any different after stopping it than I did while on it. It also didn't cause the insomnia I expected it to; not even in the first few days.

I took the SR and it would make me yawn a whole bunch and have a weird tired feeling in my body, like when you feel like stretching alot and curling up in bed or something. I had that at 200mg 2x daily and 200mg 1x daily, but at only 100mg it seemed to go away mostly, except at the peak.

CP,
maybe a smidgen of t3 might help? Hashimoto's? Many pdoc like the tsh level around 1.5. (My apologies if you know all that.)

Wellbutrin could be the ticket for you. Here's hoping!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I am trying a smidgen of T3.

My pdoc took me OFF the wellbutrin today. She said it would provoke anxiety in all likelihood. She gave me clonazepam instead, twice daily.

She argued that right now, my thyroid is out of whack and it's not worth medicating with an antidepressant. The clonazepam is for illness-related anxiety.

Do you know what your TSH level is?

I too have gone onto take thyroid medication to get to the route of the Treatment resistent depression. My TSH was aroung 5.0 to begin with which is considered WNL, but the endo felt that a lower level would be a better range for someone with depression.

I think my level is aroung 2.0 and I am on Synthyroid.

Good luck with getting the thyroid under control, it can affect everything.
