My dr. started me on Klonopin for anxiety. I am already on Anafranil for OCD/depression. The Anafranil wasn't helping enough for the anxiety. Anyway my main diagnosis is bulimia. Have I confused you enough?
The klonopin is .5 3 times a day. I tried that and couldnt stay awake. Tell me more about klonopin. If I took it once before bed would it I still get the effects of it the following day? Thanks for any advice. I am a student and have two kids so I can't sleep all day!

Welcome to babble. As for klonopin it is pretty long acting. What about lmg at night and the .5 during the day? Or maybe a lower dose to start? Phillipa

Taking it all at bed time would be the best thing to do. It shouldn't be sedating the next day.

I have tried Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, and celexa. I have also been on Lithium and Depekote in my early 20's. Anafranil is my miracle depression drug. I have had better results on this drug than any other. Still have a lot of anxiety that is why doc wanted to try Klonopin.

Prozac was the best of the others I have tried. I am not sure why SSRI don't really work for me :(. I am very nervous about this Klonopin though. Dr diudnt seem at all concerned but I do not want to become addicted or anything like that. :( I am scared. So anxiety filled about taking and anxiety drug if that makes sense lol.

I am really nervous about this. I havent even been on it a week. Maybe I could talk to my Dr about having something for as needed? Like Valium (I take that when I fly) can you take Klonopin as needed like if I was having a really bad panic filled day? For example last week I was having a very hard time not purging after a binge and I spent the day unable to concentrate on school work, pacing the house to burn calories, really anxious. Something would have been helpful that day. But maybe not something everyday. Does that make sense?

Welcome
Klonopin has a long half-life
I take 1mg at bedtimeklonopin is not the greatest "as needed" med
chewing xanax is about as immediate as you can get
but you may very well do better staying on an even keel with the klonopin and it will give you a good nights sleep
good luck

Klonopin is strong. To me xanax much weaker. Xanax as needed is the ticket even for sleep. Phillipa

Welcome to Psycho babble!
When I first started Klonopin I was on .25 once a day and that would knock me out. 10 years later I was was on 4 mg a day and it wasn't touching me. Maybe your dosage is too high. I wouldn't recommend taking it all at once at night. Just decrease the dosage.
Klonopin isn't the best med for people with bulimia because for many, it makes them b/p even more than usual. Have you ever tried Prozac for your bulimia. Sorry to go off topic a bit.

Hy CreekGeek,
at what dosage of Anafranil are you on now?Did you take it in the evening, morning, or spreaded over the day?.I'm bulimic too and indeed Anafranil is the best for ocd/depression, even bulimia.Maybe you could add an tiny amount of Prozac for its anti-bulimic properties.Another anti anxiety addon could be a low dose Celexa or Zoloft, instead Klonopin which indeed increase hunger.
For me, Klono in heaven and hell.I take 2 mg at bed time and in about 30 min, when it kicks in, i feel an warm sensation of well being but the bad part is thatI eat all the sweets and junk from the house. It kinda desinhibits me, like something "what the hell, ill watch my diet tomorrow, now ill have some big time with chocolate".Next morning I wake up with regrets and i'm hurying to insanely burn calories.

hopefullynow I am on 100 mg of Anafranil. and .5 of Klonopin. Haven't noticed any increased hunger really yet. I will definitely keep an eye on that though I do not want that triggering a binge. I am about four months out of treatment and have only had 4 or 5 slips with purging. Although I will still admit to binge/restrict behaviors. I almost always restrict to compensate which isnt good either :( I just wanna be normal. Seeing the Dr about the Klonopin in the morning. besdies it making me sleeping it works incredible for my anxiety but I fear dependance so much :(
