Finally got the Parnate

Posted by maxime on October 8, 2009, at 15:28:57

I finally got my Parnate yesterday. You would think that I would be so excited to take the first dose because I have been waiting for weeks now. You know what? I didn't even bother taking it this morning. I feel like there is no point. There is no point in anything. All I do is lay in bed waiting to die. I have no hope yet.

I don't know what to do.

Take the Parnate, Maxime. I start tomorrow, too. (Though I'll start at .1mg, probably!)

Please take the parnate.....it will help maxime

I was feeling like this too. You can see my thread about giving up. If you do look at it,
read with ALOT of caution as I was really about to give up
I started on parnate 8 days ago and am feeling better (hope it lasts)
Today i feel better and am only up to 20mg. I left the house which I haven't done in nearly 6 weeks (unless it was to see the pdoc or dentist) and did some lighthearted shopping with my mum.
Give it a try.....please.
Take care and stay in touch
Lots of love

I finally took the 20 mg today. I really doubt that the Parnate will help. There are so many things wrong in my life that a medication can't fix. :-(

O.K. so your life may be a mess. But you can accomplish so much while feeling so terrible. what will you be able to resolve when you start feeling better? You're a very strong woman.

Glad you tookk it,please continue.Youre right no med is gonna deal with external problems, but what we hope them to do is give us personaly the strentgh to deal with them and not feel as overwhelmed, this is what a good med will do,make you feel up to lifes challenges opposed to hiding and staying in bed.good luck

I'm not feeling anything from the 20 mg of Parnate. When I was on it before I felt something right away at 10 mg (stimulant effect). I am supposed to stay at 20 mg for two weeks and then go up to 40 mg. I wish I could go up to 40 mg today. I am really not patient at all.

Thanks for listening to my whining. I have no one in real life to talk to about these things because no one understands.

Hi Maxime,

I always welcome your posts! And I hear you, that the parnate is not ramping up fast enough for you. Give it time and it will. You've just made it through a very tough, rough month.

Still feeling like crap. Today I had to apply for f*ck*ng Welfare which makes me feel like the loser I am. Welfare. I am so glad that I have all those university degrees because they are obviously helping me so much.

Still very suicidal. I have written all my goodbye letters and my obituary. I am ready to go at any time. If one more thing goes wrong then I am out of here.

I know our exact situations may be different but I am in a similar state of mind as you. Its really dark and hopeless, I know- but you are not alone. Just hang on and give this drug a fair chance.

20mg is really low as I'm sure you know. Even I am on that and I still get suicidal. I need to increase too. My pdoc is also going really slow for some reason..
Since this sounds like an emergency can't you speak to your pdoc and ask him to titrate up faster? Most people seem to be starting on 30mg, so I don't understand the problem with that....Or ask him to cover you with Lithium till you get to the right dose.

Welfare doesn't make you a loser! It just means you are ill and once you are well (which you will be) you can use all your degrees!

Easy to say but please hang in there.

Love
D

Maxime,
You wrote,[...If one more...I am out of here...]
I am unsure as to what could constitute to you a {thing} that could go wrong. The word {thing} could be very broad and contain a multitude of situations, events, concerns and such.
Or it could be very narrow, as pertaining to your situation that you describe here. If it is in the realm of being very narrow, I would hope that that is what you are wanting to mean verses a very broad {thing}.
From reading this thread and the companion threads involving your state of mind, I do see that you are looking to overcome the situation for you are wanting to try taking the chemical that is called Parnate in a hope that taking such will cause a change in your state of mind. The issue then as I read here is that you are wanting to avoid a {thing} from happening that could be comparable to some life event or adverse circumstance that could present itself to you.
Now I do not know as to if it happpens to rain tomorrow where you are, or if there is a great fire there, as to if it would or would not constitute a {thing} that could happen. But the fire and rain could be internal.
Now I have been following your threads here in interest and it is my deep conviction that there is a possibility for you to have a change in your state of mind since you now might be seeing fire and rain as a {thing} and perhaps be able to overcome this fire and rain.

Hi Lou, you are right. I did make a very broad statement. I guess I wanted to leave it up to interpretation for myself. I don't know what "thing" could/would make me want to end my life right now. It's more of a "I will know what it is when it happens". For instance, today I had to apply for Welfare. If I found out that I was declined to receive Welfare I would probably end my life. It would be too much to handle. I would have no means to live.

I hope that makes sense.

There is a lot in what you have posted here. It looks like each day you are walkng with your back turned towards the sun. And when the cold wind blows I hope something will help you make a stand, and see you through another day.
Well, there's hours of time on the internet line to talk about things to come.

Maxime:

There is SO much stigma and myths about people on welfare, as is ironic that I once was a welfare agent, and then on the other side as a 'client'.
Please don't beat yourself up over it. I've seen so many, many people of all walks of life, from former CEO's to wonderful Mom's who get kicked around by abusive husbands. And some/many of these people also had a mental illness. Having a basic, decent living is *right*, as far as I am concerned, and Canada, being the 'so-called' progressive country, once did care about it's sick and poor people.

I do hope the best for you with your new med. It's too easy for me to just say 'hold on', but I feel very deep empathy for you, and all of us going through living Hell. We all do really need each other...as much as society and the world try to tell us otherwise.

Take *very* good care...
Jay

Jay, thank you so much for your post. I wish Canada was more progressive with Welfare though. As a single person all I will receive for a month is $475. How can I live off that? Doomed.

Maxime,

Your situation is dire, BUT it is not permanent. It really is not. You will feel better. You will get some sleep. You will be able to use your degrees. Despite your depression and sleep issues, your mind is still very sharp--maybe you can see how it's dulled some, but I don't. I think you're a real sharpie--and that will come back to you. You will feel better. I believe this completely. Please eat well and get that doc to get you some real sleep meds. You deserve lots of care and self care. (Hope this isn't too preachy.) Does your 475$ include a food allowance? Or is that supplementary? Can you get some meds at the Centre you mentioned once?

love,

Weird. That's almost exactly what you get in the UK, give or take 60p or a Canadian Dollar per week.

I wonder if Western countries try to achieve parity with their peers when setting their welfare rates. It seems too close to be coincidence.
