Who can prescribe Androgenic steroids?

Posted by G-man885858 on May 26, 2009, at 23:57:33

I feel really weak and depressed. I've tried every antidepressant and they're all terrible.

I want to at least TRY an Androgenic/anabolic steroid. What kind of doc can prescribe it? How should I go about asking the doctor for it?

thanks.

No, I'm not kidding. I do not understand this ridiculous stigma attached to things like Anabolic steroids. These meds can save lives. But they've gotten a real bad rap because of bodybuilders who abuse them.

I think its really unfair to deny a person a medicine that could save their life because other irresponsible people abuse the drug.

Yes, but for certain medical disorders. I've never heard of it or can see the evidence based reasons for psychiatry.

That's what I was referring to.

My husband gets his from his urologist. It seems to help his mood and energy as well as the obvious. A blood test revealed that his levels were 'low' prior to therapy.

Testosterone can lift male depression if levels are shoddy and other low T symptoms are present. I don't think it's stupid at all.

Well I agree SSRIs can really affect your hormones...here's an article that talks about the symptoms of elevated prolactin. I never knew about this before, but asked my endo about possible effects of SSRIs on the endocronoligical system, and she said she knew of no research; yet, I've found tons of research lately that SSRIs can screw up your prolactin levels--which screws up your dopamine functioning too; you might want to check into this, I've made a few posts on this page about it w/some research articles linked. They say one remedy is dopamine agonists....Good luck

Well, its more a case of bodybuilders getting a bad rap because you are (trying to) abus(e/ing) androgens....

really, get your hormone levels tested. if you're quite low, and your symptoms are refractory to psychiatric treatment, its worth thinking about. but know what you're getting into.

Use of tesosterone in depression is not abuse in fact there is a long histroy of trials of it.

Type, tesosterone depression, in to Google and you will see all of the research.

But I would repeat it is certainly not abuse and I would ignore those that say otherwise.

Hope this helps.

Sheesh, there is such a stigma around steroids! They're not any more dangerous than half of the psychiatric drugs out there. Human growth hormone in particular is probably your safest bet. You can order it online, and it will cost you a lot less than if you go to one of those ridiculous anti-aging clinics. You'll have to do quite a bit of searching though. I considered ordering some once, but I can't recall the name of the site bodybuilding something or other.

My father once took a form of growth hormone called "Symbiotropin Pro-HGH". He said it made him feel so good! So he naturally suggested it to me - but I was prescribed a different kind from my holistic doc. Mine was called NordiTropin - which is Pure injectable HGH. Norditropin made me feel miserable....

The difference was that Symbiotropin is simply a precursor full of amino acids that "promote the body's natural creation" of growth hormone...

Just curious. If one has normal IGF-1 blood levels, could one still have a need for HGH?

I had a problem with my pituitary some years ago. One side effect was a reduction in testosterone production. The problem was identified after a routine set of blood tests.

My physician said, "your testosterone production is currently low. You describe sluggishness and lack of energy. We can ignore or it or treat it. The only way we know if this is a problem is to inject you with testosterone and see what happens. Either you will feel no difference or a marked improvment"

"Give me the shot", I said

30 minutes later I was walking down the street and I noticed that there was a new bounce to my stride. As I waited to cross the road a pretty girl half my age smiled and said "Hello, you!"
At work I seemed to have more vigor and got more done. The only negative, and it was a real one, was an increased sexual drive. After a few months I had lost 35lb in fat and begun an exercise regime for the first time in ten years.

The pituitary problem cleared and I no longer need the supplementation. Certainly its worth any man getting tested. I am certain that the illogical hysteria about steroids causes tens of thousands of men to go untreated with damaging effects on their mental and physical health.
Today I am physically healthier than I was 15 years ago and that is a direct result of that treatment.
